I visited Downtown Café in Mission on a Sunday around 12:30 PM with a coworker. The place was busy, but we were seated right away, which was a good start. Our waitress seemed new — she was friendly but unsure about basic menu details like what type of beans were served or which sides came with which dishes. That wasn’t a big deal, but things went downhill from there.

It took about 30 minutes for a simple taco plate to come out, which felt excessive even for a “not fast food, but great food” establishment. To make matters worse, my coworker’s order was accidentally delivered to another table, and that table actually ate it without saying anything. The manager came by to explain the mix-up, but by that point our lunch break was over, and my coworker never got to eat.

What was disappointing was the lack of any gesture to make things right — no offer to remake the meal to-go, provide a discount, or offer a small gift card for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds matters.

The food may be good, but our experience wasn’t. I might give it another try when it’s less busy, but hopefully next time, the service and management are a bit more attentive to the...

I used to come to this every weekend with my family for breakfast cause the place was cute, affordable and good quality food. However recently I went and the chilaquiles soggy, it wasn’t a problem. It was the first time ever I had asked them to please remake them and the waitress went to go and get them done again. It was at the front checkout when I had to pay. The owner came and tried to charge me for both plates, even though I didn’t touch the first plate. I refused to pay for that plate and the owner came from behind the register and got in my face and literally threatened me never to come back to order food. I was absolutely astonished by what she did. Not once did I scream or raise my voice at her. People were watching and leaving because of how she acted towards me. Not once have I ever sent food back or even refused to tip but instances like this make me scared of even attempting to do so again. Was I in the wrong? Should have I had just paid for and avoided problems? I just want to make people aware of what type of person they...

Came to eat here with my mom for dinner. The food was really good. And the atmosphere is really homey.

I had the Smoked Turkey Sandwich $8. It’s deli sliced smoked turkey, with lettuce and tomato on a warm and toasty croissant (you also have a choice of wheat bread). This plate also comes with potato chips, pickle, and fruit: pineapple, orange watermelon, and cantaloupe. I customized my plate by excluding pickle, mayo, and cheese. I’d definitely recommend this sandwich.

My mother had the chicken flautas, and her plate looked very yummy. And they way they serve the beans in a tea cup is just so cute! I tasted the rice from her plate, and it was very good. And we both ordered the peach tea, that comes with a peach slice! Definitely a yummy drink.

The customer service is very friendly. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. And the owner is also very nice. Please support your local businesses by stopping by for a yummy bite, and...

The restaurant inside looks really interesting, i like the decor the old style of it. The breakfast was good, the huevos rancheros are not on the Menu but i recommend you ask for them, for $8.00 you get 2 eggs, refried beans, potatoes and bacon. The eggs were perfectly cooked over medium, the salsa for the eggs was delicious slightly spicy, the refried beans were pretty good tasting, the potatoes were made fresh to order but didn't have much flavor i would have liked if they seasoned them with black pepper, paprika or parsley for better appearance & the bacon was pretty delicious cooked perfectly. The flour tortillas were okay and the coffee was hot. Overall a great place for breakfast, i would give this place 5 stars if they brought you something while you wait for your food, for the design of this place perhaps a sweet bread or butter biscuits.

Amazing place serving truly stunning authentic food with home cooked flavor in downtown Mission,Tx. The venue is honestly very well kept and clean. You will be surprised how inviting the tables are with this elegant and quiet vibe you can't go wrong. Family dinner or Date night, I think the restaurant would be well suited for either. The food was out quickly and the waitress was snappy and entertaining. I really love places like this and think they should be more on the map. I was very pleased with the quality of the the food and would definitely recommend to any friend. My favorite was the fidello casero and delicious fresh flour tortillas.
