Clean interior and good service yet the food needs a lot of work.
Walking in, my first impression is that the interior is very clean and the place has been recently built, and the owner confirmed this restaurant has been recently renovated. Only point I would detract from the atmosphere is that there isn't a distinctive style to the restaurant - it's just clean. The bathroom itself is also very clean, which is always a good sign.
The service itself gets 4 stars from me as well. It seemed like when we were there only the owner was in the store, and he was very pleasant and polite. He took our order and in about 20 minutes we received our food. However, there is an issue with the pricing. The prices on our receipt is different from the prices on the screen above, as those are cash pricing and with a credit card there is a hidden fee, which to me seemed deceptive. I asked the owner once we realized the difference in price if I can cancel my order and pay with cash instead, and while he couldn't cancel the order in his system he still gave me back the difference in price which I appreciated. The other issue I had with service was that the water wasn't free, which I always have an issue with in restaurants.
On to the food itself. Here, I was disappointed. We ordered the mozarella sticks (7/10), chicken tikka masala (5/10) and gyro rice plate (3/10). The mozarella sticks were pretty standard sticks you would get from any restaurant. Only reason why I gave it a 7 is because he gave us 7 sticks, which was more than what I was expecting. The chicken tikka masala was very average and there was too much tomato paste.
Finally, the gyro rice plate. The first thing that stuck out to me is that the presentation is not very appetizing. There are just some vegetables on one side with globs of sauce everywhere else. Ideally, I would have mixed the vegetables with the meat, put the hummus on one corner of the plate like where it is now, and drizzle the rest of the sauce all over the plate. Also, adding some tabbouleh would go a long way as some red and green would make the dish seem a lot more appetizing. The taste itself was also nothing to write home about. Since the sauces weren't mixed together I always felt like I had too much of one sauce and too little of another sauce every bite.
Overall, the atmosphere was clean yet it lacked a sense of style. The service was friendly but only having cash prices on the screen is deceptive. Finally, the food was very generic and seemed low quality while the serving sizes were too big and I think they can actually cut down on how much food they give.
I wouldn’t come here again if the restaurant stays as it is. I think they have cut corners where it makes a difference. However, there is a lot of potential here as there aren’t many halal food options in woodlands while the Muslim population is ever growing. Final thing to note, it doesn’t make much sense to me to advertise having wings when there isn’t any flavor variety for them. I would advertise burgers, gyros, and wraps.
Rating System 1/10: horrible 2/10: bad 3/10: below average 4/10: slightly below average 5/10: average 6/10: slightly above average 7/10: above average 8/10: good 9/10: really...
Read moreNo Flavor. My first time coming there today and we were so excited to try all the things!!! The manager was very nice and accommodating. The place is clean but you’re really not able to dine in. The food smells amazing but lacks in flavor which means zero taste. We ordered the butter chicken, fried chicken legs and thighs, loaded fries, spicy chicken sandwich and the goat biriani rice. (He was sold out of the chicken tikka masala and doesn’t make the chicken tandoori anymore….the 2 dishes we really wanted.) EVERYTHING tasted plain and lacked any flavor, which was confusing bc the aromatics are there. It smells good and you know what it tastes like so you go in for that bite and it’s just rather disappointing. No taste. Just plain. Bland. I think the loaded fries were probably the best out of everything we ordered today (maybe bc it was drenched with sauces). The fried chicken was cooked nicely and was so crispy but NO FLAVOR at all. Goat biriani had some spice/heat to it but it didn’t look anything like the picture of it on the website. Butter chicken had zero flavor. I kept adding salt and still could not get it to taste like I know it should. The spicy chicken sandwich was very dry and again no real flavor. We spent $65 and the food was just not that great. I MIGHT try something else like the chicken tikka and maybe the loaded fries if I order here again. Overall, I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place but it just didn’t hit the...
Read moreDrove by today saw it was finally open. Decided to order lunch for family. Ordered: total about 35 bucks with a tip. 1 chicken sandwich - 8 out 10, was delicious, good sauce, coleslaw and good size chicken.. 1 cheeseburger - 2 out 10, not very tasty, meat was hard, bland and overcooked, cheese was still hard and not melted. One of the bread was stale (Won’t get this again) 1 - loaded fries - 🤩 10 out 10, delicious cheesy crispy fries, crispy delicious chicken, sauces were good 1 - Seafood basket - came with 2 fried fish, fried small shrimps, fried calamaris and couple hush puppies - good amount food. Fish was decent, needed more crispiness to it maybe more time in fryer, Shrimp and calamari were good flavor, hush puppies had good taste. Give it 8 out 10. 2 coke zeros -
🥇 Winner here for us was the loaded fries 🤤
May try the chicken strips next time.
Owner was nice guy, took a bit to get food ready but understand he was the only one working alone and taking orders, maybe he rushed the food a bit but in high hopes for this good place near home. He will have Pakistan menu food ready to serve in December 🤩 🙏 that...
