Hippo Burgers — Restaurant in Texas

Coworkers kept telling me that Hippo Burger was the new best burger place in town, but they would say it in whispered tones after glancing over their shoulders. Maybe they're worried about speaking heresy against Whataburger, (may the great W be praised. Amen.) or they're concerned that the common rabble will overwhelm the place, and ruin their easy access to beefy ambrosia. Why? Because the burgers are fantastic! The fries are also fantastic and worth the trip alone. Seriously. Just go get the fries. They should be classified as a mood altering substance. The place itself? Meh. Left over decor from previous tenants, and glaring yellow walls- nothing to be excited about. But who cares! The burgers are practically a religious experience. Take-out is the new norm thanks to Covid, but the plastic dome container they put the burgers in makes you appreciate that you're about to enjoy something that should be encased in fine crystal. They're huge! Make no mistake, a burger and fries from Hippo is a complete meal. I'm a big boy. I can put away several plates of brisket and sides, but the Hippo Burger comfortably shut me down. The beef patty is thick, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. I had the Siraccha burger with grilled Jalapenos, and my son had the Blue cheese burger. We are both secretly making plans to return as soon as my wife isn't paying attention. I tried to pretend I'm still on a diet and got the sweet potato fries. My son got the Cajun spice fries. Even my wife said these were the best fries she's ever tasted. So in conclusion, and yes, I'm whispering right now... It's the best burger from a burger joint I've ever had. Period. But don't tell anyone. We gotta keep this on the DL or everyone will find...

My husband and I went here today. We ordered cheese burgers & fries. We also ordered their chicken wings. First, when my husband got his burger, there was no cheese on it. He walked up to the counter and asked for a slice of cheese. I believe the guy in the counter is the manager. He asked my husband what type of cheese he want. He said he wants white cheese. When the manager told the guy in the kitchen, he acted like it was an inconvenience. Second, when the food were served on the table, something smells funny. I tried sniffing on our food to check. Did not find it right away. I ate a piece of the wings and when I was about to eat my second one, that is where I notice the smell is coming from. The chicken is cooked but there is a funny smell like it might have been thawed and left out. My husband brought it to the manager’s attention. He acted combative. He said he will check but did not go to the kitchen and just stayed by the register. Did not apologize or even offer to replace the order. Very bad customer service. I heard that hippo burger was top 5 burgers in Houston and i was greatly impressed when I was greeted with a nice “welcome to hippo burger” from Taison I think his name was as soon as I walked in the door and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger the burger was very authentic to the American culture and was very tasty I loved the way the beef fell apart as soon as it met by teeth and tongue the bacon was cooked to perfection and taison even checked to see if my food was good my daugher has the kids cheeseburger and she said it was her favorite burger ever and afterwards we ordered a chocolate milkshake that sent a sensational shock to my taste buds and sent me home happy and full I watched as taison and the other waiters cleaned every table as the guest would leave and send them on their way with a great thank you as I was leaving I was reminded by a worker to do a review on google and here I am writing my first review ever I love the restaraunt and I will be returning her next to order the monster hippo and see what all the hype is about thank you hippo burger we love your...
