Oh my goodness, a written review could never do this place enough justice. I first visited this joint back in 2008 as a middle schooler. Back then I was just starting to have an idea of what my all time favorite burger places were, much less kept track. For almost 2 years my father and I frequented this diamond in the rough picking up my sister from school and friends houses in the area. Eventually stopped coming around, forgot the name of the place, but their burgers always stuck in my mind as one of the best ones ever. Over the years as life changes happened and I moved all over Texas, I would often find myself at a burger joint raving about how good it was, but once finished would always think "man this was good, but not quite as good as that place when I was a teen" which I now know the name of and will never forget, "I wish I could find it as an adult, so I could know if it truly is number 1. It's still in the top 3 for sure". Fast forward 15 years, I'm 29 and driving across counties for my career and what do I find? They've done some renovation in all that time, I didn't recognize it at 1st but I said "ooh I bet that hole in the wall is good, I'm gonna stop there on my way back". As soon as I pulled up for lunch everything pieced together. I was floored, I couldn't believe I had stumbled across it. I won't go into depth about the burger you've heard enough. Just know that everything was perfect in every way. It's been 15 years but it wasn't just a nostalgic memory. I can say without a doubt this place has the best burger in all of DFW. Possibly all of Texas. If you are anywhere within 30 miles or care about the quality or experience of a burger joint. Stop...
Read moreValentine's day with my beautiful wife. We headed out to the lake to relax and fish, then to lunch for our special day (beats the dinner rush). We stopped at Myrtles for our burger fix. We've been stopping here for years, not sure what happened today. The burgers were cooked to our liking ( medium for her, mid rare for me). We ordered our favorite sides, onion rings and their fresh cut spiral chips (if you like crispy potato chips, you will love these). You can see by our pictures how yummy they look. The burgers turned out great, the onion rings and potato chip spirals looked a little dark. They had that old fryer grease taste. For my fellow foodies, this is usually due to overused oil in the fryer. As you know, the more you cook in your same oil (even at home), will cause the oil to break down, watery so to speak. This will make what you are frying soak up the different flavors of the grease instead of sealing in the flavors of what is being cooked. Needles to say, the last picture shows just how much of the old grease was left behind in the container. This left us with bad heartburn and bad eats. We will continue to visit this establishment as the track record has been great. My only request to the wonderful family that operates this business is that if you dont have the time, maybe out of the oil to change it, or just trying to stretch it due to costs, that you please let your customers know so that the entire lunch experience is not ruined. We spent $23 for 2 burgers, 2 sides, and a...
Read moreLast Monday, my husband & I went to Myrtle’s for the first time, and it was out of this world good. Food & service was spot on. Now the reason for only 3 stars, the following Saturday, we went back, with some family, since we had told so many people about how good the burgers are at Myrtle’s, it was around 3pm, and they were closed! No signage as to why, since they’re supposed to be open until 5pm on Saturday. Bummer. So, my husband & I decided to go back today, it was about 11:30 am (they are supposed to open at 11am) and lo & behold, they’re closed again! No signage, nothing. We were so disappointed because the drive from our home is a special trip and a bit of a drive. We don’t know what to think, we read a post about checking Facebook before going to Myrtle’s, but we don’t do Facebook. There has to be another way to alert customers to not make a trip for nothing. Y’all have a great place, with fantastic food, but I don’t know if we will chance it again, after 2 trips...
