This place has baby roaches now apparently. So disgusting and disappointing. I ordered a kids meal & it comes with a drink. I was really excited for my meal, and I got some ice, but no drink in the cup cause I just wanted ice for my tumbler. As I was pouring the ice in my tumbler, I see a little brown roach tumble out. I was horrified. I take the cup back inside and tell the server & ask for a refund for my food. I gave her the food back. She says “well, ice is free.” Are you serious? I tell her, “that’s not really the point.” At no point have I raised my voice or talked poorly to this woman. I tell her, “that’s so gross & I don’t even want my food anymore. I’m not trying to be upset with (her), but it’s gross.” She says to me, “oh, I’m just trying to keep my composure,” with an attitude, never once apologizing for the fact that there’s a literal baby roach in my ice... no telling what other big roaches & other critters are in the kitchen. I tell her “I’ve been in customer service for a while, and that response is not appropriate. You need to say ‘I’m so sorry that that happened to you.’” And she basically ignored me & tried to hurry through giving me my refund. I could’ve cut up and told every other customer in the restaurant that they had roaches, but I was trying to be nice & not embarrass them, so I asked to speak to the manager (who’s literally been standing there the whole time and has no doubt heard the entire interaction between me & his rude employee... he had to tell her how to issue the refund and he saw me pick up my food, leave and come right back) and he apologizes and says he doesn’t know how this happened. I explained that I was very disgusted and disappointed because I’ve eaten there several times before & have bought their food for my family before. He says they clean the ice machine weekly, but I just think they’re dirty & need to spend time deep cleaning & exterminating their entire restaurant. And they certainly need more customer service training for the cashier cause she has a horrible attitude with PAYING repeat customers. I will be filing a complaint with the health department & I will...

We started going here because we wanted baked potatoes and didn't feel like going to Pappa's BBQ. I was thrilled to see they were just as big as Pappa's, just as good and more affordable (at the time). For me, I only order them without meat toppings. It's not far, so that convenience plus the fact the potatoes were excellent made us just replace Pappa's as our potato provider.

My husband has had some of their meat selections, and he says they are just okay, so they're not his preferred BBQ provider. But he agrees the potatoes are great!!

If you're meat-free, be sure to check your to-go order before you drive away because if you just say, "no meat," sometimes whoever prepares it thinks you mean no BBQ meat and will add bacon bits. I've had to turn around more times than I can count to get them remade, but I finally learned to check before leaving.

We also get the pecan pie sometimes. I'm sure it's store bought but it's good. The fried okra is also good.

The basic potato used to be $5.95, and it's now $7.95, I believe, which is the exact same price as Pappa's no-meat potato.

The staff is low-tone, low-energy, low-frills, but basically courteous. We don't often eat in, so we usually only interact with the cashier. We've experienced some times when it's taken much longer than you'd think necessary to prep two no-meat potatoes, but, overwhelmingly, they are quick on to-go orders.

The place is giving typical "drab BBQ spot" decor vibes, but it seats plenty, and it's typically clean. If he remodeled, the prices would skyrocket, so it can stay how...

I visited this place for the first time and I regret doing so. It was definitely a waste of $23. I told the nice lady who took my order that it was my first time and I hope the food is good. She said "I guess". I should have canceled my order and left then. 🚩🚩 I told her that wasn't the response I was expecting. She then said it's the best BBQ in town and that I would love it so much that I would have it at least twice a week. NOT‼️🙄😒😏

I ordered a 2 Meat BBQ dinner plate...Ribs/chicken with green beans and dirty rice (received green beans and macaroni). My 7 year old ordered Cheese burger w/fries. How can you go wrong with a kids burger??? She ate her fries and said the meat was nasty...no condiments on the burger; just dry bread with meat and cheese! The ribs and chicken lacked flavor...and I do mean NO FLAVOR AT ALL. No smoked flavor or flavor from seasoning!!! The meat seemed to have been boiled rather than pit smoked! That actually was the first sign the food was horrible because the restaurant didn't even SMELL like BBQ!!!🚩🚩 The best part of my meal was the green beans!! They were soooo good!!! The macaroni was just OK. Oh yeah, the Texas toast was good too! I was going to go back and try their wings but the dissatisfaction from the 1st visit was enough for me not to go...

Rackshack BBQ & Wings is a little strip mall BBQ shop in north Houston, at Spears Rd and TC Jester, not too far from the Greenspoint area (there was a previous bbq joint there called Sweet Sadie’s BBQ. They are closed now, obviously.). I went there recently to see how their barbecue stacked up. I tried not to get to hopeful, since in my experience many of the strip mall joints have not been on the upper end of the spectrum. In this case, the quality met my expectations. Rack Shack is somewhere maybe towards the the middle – their barbecue was by no means great. But it was also not terrible. The brisket had a good smoke ring and decent smokiness. The ribs were OK. I prefer a drier rib to a wet one, and these did meet that. The sausage was reported to have been made in-house. And it had a good flavor. The pulled pork may have been the star of the show – it was pretty darn tasty. Overall, Rackshack BBQ & Wings is a fine strip mall joint. But certainly it is not one worth making a destination or going a long way out of your way for.

Was hopeful for a pleasant surprise! Didn’t happen! The brisket is just what brisket can be, done by any backyard pit novice! When you hang a shingle, that’s an entirely other expectation! For the most part the brisket is flavorless! It’s texture just as bland! The fries are great! Saved the meal given how hungry I am! Portion amount on sandwich pretty good! I’m pretty much convinced that Houston just can’t compete with FORT WORTH BARBECUE! I’ll stick to Pappas, as much as I’m not a fan of chain que! Oh, customer service was de ent enough…and sauce too watery! Thanks!

This has to be the worst bbq I had in Houston. The brisket was overcooked and dry and lacked flavor. The ribs were ok better than the brisket but needed more flavor. I ordered the two meat plate and picked mac and cheese and dirty rice. The mac and cheese lacked cheese sauce it honestly tasted like buttered macaroni. The dirty rice was my favorite thing. The rice was spicy and flavorful. I was really hoping the rest of the food would've been better.
