Southern Maid Donuts — Restaurant in Texas

I got out at 4 am to take my grandchildren these “Dubai” donuts everyone is talking about! I get all the way here… and they won’t make them…. Only on the weekends! I said do you have the filling ready yes. I will wait. Well maam if you would have called first. Maam I said I will wait. Well now we can’t. The donuts are great here BUT the service is always slow and sucks! I never leave reviews BUT I wouldn’t have driven 35 minutes for some donuts I could have went to Shirley’s and been treated better and faster!

I would like everyone to know that they did come back and give me free donuts! Which is so completely nice! I just wanted what I paid for! I wasn’t expecting free donuts. Never my intention. I would have paid for my $8 Dubai donuts that til timers should have said only on the weekends! Blah! I will take them on...

I’ve been here several times before and the only thing I can say that is consistent about this place is the RUDE ladies at the window. Nothing about this place is SOUTHERN. Customer service is the worst. I’ve come back time and time to try it again (thinking maybe they had a bad day) but every time they are in the WORST mood. As far as food, kolches are pretty decent. The breakfast tacos are absolute trash. I just spent $10 on 2 tacos that are made with crusty old cheese. The smell alone makes you gag. The salsa? It’s so chunky and old, it won’t even come out of the container. I won’t be back again. Between the food and the customer service save yourself some time, money, and PATIENCE and get Denny’s cause they got a drive...

The only thing I would say that it tastes a little off to me are the vanilla and the chocolate cream filled doughnuts. They don’t taste like that fluffy powdery creamy taste like you would expect there’s just an odd taste to them. All the rest of the donuts are absolutely delicious. They have kolaches there that are really good, some with potatoes and cheese others with jalapeños you know they have a good variety. I wish they would have smaller egg n mushroom kolaches some people can’t eat meat and the potatoes are just too much starch for those of us with blood sugar issues. But the staff there is really nice and I have to say this is the best thing about the place. It is absolutely CLEAN!!!!! CLEAN...
