Toucan Jim’s: Where the Wings Are Hot and the Service Is Cold as Your Ex’s Heart”

Went to Toucan Jim’s in Center Point, TX, a place that promises good vibes and southern hospitality. I brought my brother along, and apparently, he met the hospitality. I met the hostility.

While the waitress was doting on him like he was a Make-a-Wish kid on his final queso, I got treated like I was the reason the ice machine broke. I was polite. I smiled. I said "please" and "thank you." She looked at me like I just asked if her baby was cute before realizing it was a Chihuahua in a bonnet.

Maybe she didn’t like my face. Fair. My face has been known to offend people with seasonal allergies. But still—basic service isn’t a personality contest. It’s not a Tinder swipe.

The food? Fine. The atmosphere? Confused—like a Margaritaville had a one-night stand with a Cabela’s. But the real kicker? Watching the waitress treat my brother like royalty while I sat there like a ghost who never tipped well in life.

Anyway, if you're handsome, charming, or my brother, you might have a good time. If you’re me? Bring your own drink, your own waitress, and maybe a clown nose—at least then they’ll laugh with you.

Toucan Jim’s has a 4.6-star average? On what scale—emotional desperation? I’ve seen less inflated numbers in a North Korean election.

These reviews read like they were written by people who think “tiki bar” means cultural sensitivity and “good service” means the waitress made eye contact once and didn’t mace them. Someone said it felt like “being on an island”—yeah, if the island is Lord of the Flies and you’re Piggy without your glasses.

One guy called the burgers “life-changing.” Sir, if your life changed because of a burger in Center Point, TX, it might be time to aim higher. You don’t need five stars—you need five sessions with a therapist and a palate that isn’t built on gas station sushi.

“Great staff!” Bro, the waitress ghosted me harder than some dads ghost their children. If that’s great service, then I must have been at the VIP table for the Witness Protection Program.

And let’s not forget the pet-friendly patio. That’s not a selling point—that’s just what happens when you give up on enforcing health codes. Nothing makes a fish taco pop like the scent of retriever breath and a stray chihuahua marking the palm trees.

If you believe these reviews, you probably still think Applebee’s is “a...

I would give this place no stars if I could. My husband and I were out riding our motorcycle today from Fredericksburg to Bandera and decided to stop at Toucan Jim's for lunch. We had been here many times before with our riding groups. But we had not been here in maybe 12-18 months. When we walked in, we saw about 6 people sitting at the bar and another 2 at a table across from the bar. We stood at the bar near the waitress station waiting to be acknowledged and served. We found the menus and decided what we wanted. The bartender/waitress walked from behind the bar past me to deliver food twice, and not once did she acknowledge me. My husband went to the bathroom, and when he came out, I was still standing there. We waited a few more minutes, but when one of the locals came in and sat at the bar, she proceeded to ask him what he wanted. It was at that point that we decided they did not want our business and we left. I will not go here again, and I will encourage my fellow rider friends to roll...

I just had one of the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. I came to center point on vacation & found toucan Jim’s on google and was very excited to spend the evening at this restaurant. Upon arrival, I had to obtain a membership from the bartender who immediately had a horrible attitude. I let it go as it was the end of the evening and I too was a bartender at one point and understood. She then made me a sub par margarita and was tipped 90%. She closed my tab without asking if that was what I preferred. When I finished my margarita I went to order another and was cut off and told I was only allowed one drink bc my pupils were dilated?? I then spoke with the owner who only apologized and didn’t offer any solution. I do not recommend this place at all. I am truly disappointed with the...

As we enter the restaurant, it was like entering into another world, transporting me to the caribean, close to home and to my heart. There were tables with island names as if each table was a diferent island. Outside in nature, and with a lot of privacy. I quickly ordered a piña colada, one of the drinks of my island. It was a very good experience, the food was realy good and the vibe was very nice. The people are nice and take good care of the place. I would recommend getting the cheese burger and the boneless wings, with a piña colada. Note: You might want to let them know when you are ready to order.
