Tropical Island 2015 — Restaurant in Texas

The product is great and I have become very familiar with most of the friendly staff. The one star review is due simply because of the management or lack thereof. The owning husband and wife duo are unfit to manage let alone run a small business. They don’t communicate with their employees, they are almost never at their own business and leave opening, closing, delivery acceptance, etc to their employees. They have repeatedly been late to pay their small group of 4 employees as well. Their most recent scheduled pay date was Monday December 25th and as that is a holiday it would be understandable to be paid a day late, but as of Friday December 29th employees remain unpaid for their work. The owners preach a family environment and claim their employees as such, but their employees can’t trust them to so much as pay them on time. I live with one such employee and have stressed about rent being paid on time due to this duos inability to do their most basic responsibility as employers. There was at least a week of radio silence from the owners the week before Christmas and to finally get some response as to when employees owed payments would be received a threat to contact the Texas Workforce commission had to be given. Customer Service isn’t what it used to be - My wife and I have been to Tropical Island one other time before this last encounter and needless to say, WE WONT BE BACK. While there, my wife orders a Rainbow Water Ice - (Tropical Island brands it water ice as Philadelphia water ice) which should consist of Lemon, Cherry & Blueberry. My wife gives her water ice a taste and immediately can tell something’s off with the taste. She asks the young lady if the “white” flavor is lemon which she responds with should be. My wife explains Philadelphia Rainbow water ice should be Lemon Cherry & Blueberry, which it wasn’t. After checking the young lady replies it’s Vanilla. My wife expresses she was under the impression it would be lemon and if she can get something else. Both ladies up front then tell her they can give her a new one if she pays for it. Telling her it would be lost product if they just replaced hers for something different without payment and that it is the customers responsibility to essentially ‘know’ what it is they are ordering. If this wasn’t already bad enough I received my “Frozen Lemonade” which was just lemonade mix and ice blended in a ninja. I still had whole pieces of ice in my lemonade. The experience was terrible. Alright so off the bat the staff are very friendly, informative, and passionate about what they do. You can tell they enjoy pleasing people and delivering great customer service. We got the island mango special, 3 macarons, and 1 cup of paradise island sugar free watermelon Italian ice with a sugar free vanilla ice cream bottom. The special was delicious and even had fresh mango fruits. The macarons were fresh and wonderful. I loved the creme brûlée most out of the 3 I got. They have a frequent buyer card to earn free ice cream. They have blue bell ice cream. We were also told they have an ice cream truck that they can bring for catering events, work events, or get togethers. We will return for more of these...
