Saintsbury Tavern — Restaurant in The Colony

I had an awful experience here tonight with the service. The bartender didn’t pay me any attention and purposely ignored me.

1st Order: I sat down at the bar and was the 3rd person there at the bar top. Not busy at all. She saw me sit down and I patiently waited for her to greet us, yet it took a couple minutes till she actually came up to us.

2nd Order: I went up to the bar; 2 bartenders walked around aimlessly while they chat with each other with their phones out showing each other whatever is more important. Keep in mind the bar isn’t full. They could’ve taken my order. Apparently, they thought I was standing there for fun.

3rd Order: This is when I knew she was giving me attitude. I went up to the bar, but this time I leaned against the bar to make it more known and waited for her to take my order. I was clearly there first and waiting. Some other guy walks up next to me. Tell me why? But she looked the other guy straight in the eye and took his order first? Didn’t look at me, didn’t try to figure out who got there first… I immediately left to grab my partner and closed my tab.

Moral of the story, I would not come here again. Find another bar that care about their customers because the bartenders there tonight have no clue what...

Saintsbury Tavern is part of the Harder Group of establishments and during the 2018 college basketball season my alumni group took advantage of its more expansive opening hours for our tournament game watching events. Saintsbury staff and management were exceptionally accommodating of this sudden surge of attendance coming at the early hours of operation. This reflects a friendly, familiar operation that could be seen in the obvious regular patronage of other customers and the immediate recognition as they arrived. Many regulars take advantage of the dog-friendly patio. The food that I've tried is solid and tasty. The breakfast tacos (we did have 11am games) were quite satisfying and stood up well to my typical overdosing with Tabasco. The French Dip beef sandwich has good flavor and holds together nicely when dipped (not all do). Other alumni who ordered pizzas were quite pleased with their selections. When the bartender came up to me, I asked him if I could get 2 waters and his reply was that he had 70 people in front of him(with a look of stupidity) and that he was not going to get me water and proceeded to kick us out because of that. I’ve never been to a bar where they refuse to give water to someone AND then kick you out for it. According to the bouncers he was the manager so there was no one else to talk to and no else to get us water. The bouncers there are very quick to Judy and kick you out (if you’ve been there you know what I mean). I would definitely recommend you go to shakertins over this place.
