Let me just say this: The Toasted Yolk Café in Houston deserves its flowers. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. It’s the kind of spot that manages to hit that perfect balance—laid-back comfort with top-tier food that makes you pause mid-bite just to say, “Yo, this is crazy good.”

We kicked off our brunch with some serious eye candy—because the presentation here is chef’s kiss. The Banana Nut French Toast was the star of the show. Thick-cut slices, golden and griddled to perfection, topped with warm caramelized bananas, powdered sugar, and a buttery praline sauce that was not playing around. It was rich but not too heavy, with that ideal combo of crunch on the outside and softness in the middle. If you’re looking for something sweet that doesn’t feel overdone, this is it.

The brisket hash was another knockout. They don’t skimp on the brisket—each bite was juicy, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. It was layered with perfectly crisped potatoes, bell peppers, onions, and topped with eggs cooked exactly how I asked. The whole plate had that “made from scratch” vibe that’s hard to fake.

Now, let’s talk pancakes. The blueberry stack looked like something out of a food magazine. Fluffy, thick, and filled with real blueberries—not just syrup on top. They soaked up the butter and syrup like champs, and the texture was so light, you’d think they had a pastry chef back there whipping clouds into batter.

The drinks also deserve a shoutout. The mimosa flight was a nice surprise—fresh-squeezed juices, not that syrupy stuff. We got orange, pineapple, and cranberry mixes, and each one hit in a different way. Fresh, crisp, and just enough kick to get brunch started right.

But what really takes The Toasted Yolk over the top is the service. Our server was quick, friendly, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Even with the crowd, our food came out hot, the drinks stayed full, and the vibe stayed fun. You can tell this team knows how to move a full house without rushing people out the door.

The atmosphere is bright, airy, and casual—perfect for a chill weekend brunch or a weekday treat-yourself moment. And for how much food we had, the bill didn’t break the bank. Quality, quantity, and care? That’s a win in my book.

Five solid stars. Whether you’re craving something sweet, savory, or just want a mimosa in hand before noon, The Toasted Yolk Café makes you glad you...

I had a really enjoyable breakfast here! I liked everything, from the quality of the food, the wonderful staff here and the prices are very fair! The atmosphere and the decor of this restaurant is pleasing and fun. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away, even though they were very busy. The staff brought us our menus and took our drink requests bring us coffee that was freshly brewed. After looking over the menu, my wife decided on blueberry pancakes and the waitress recommended to me the favorite standard eggs, sausage, hash browns and sourdough toast. Both of our items came out very quickly from the kitchen hot and delicious! The pancakes were a stack of three 12-in very fluffy Flapjacks with loaded with fresh plump and juicy blueberries. The one thing that always makes a restaurant unique is that they bring out warm maple syrup instead of room temperature. I think warm pancake syrup always taste much better! On my plate, my eggs were scrambled, the sausage was perfectly seasoned (and probably some of the best I've had) and the hash browns were unique because they are actually from a casserole and not just fried on a greasy grill. You can really taste the love and quality in those hash browns. The sourdough toast was also really delicious and thick cut slices, just like sourdough should be. The prices here are very reasonable and you can anticipate about $18 per person for a plate of food and coffee. The staff keeps the dining area clean and tidy. And all of them are very attentive and have fantastic attitudes and make you feel welcome. I definitely give the Toasted Yolk two BIG thumbs up and recommend this is a great place for breakfast! The food, the quality, the service, the staff and the overall experience really made it enjoyable and relaxing! I will definitely be coming...

The Toasted Yolk never fails to satisfy my breakfast cravings! I’ve dined here multiple times, and my most recent visit yesterday reminded me why I keep coming back. Although Sundays are typically packed, arriving before 9 AM meant we were seated immediately—no wait, no stress.

While the host wasn’t exactly warm or welcoming, she wasn’t rude either. Thankfully, three other staff members—who seemed to be managers or supervisors—were all smiles and made up for that lack of energy with genuine greetings and great energy right from the start.

Our server, Cecilia M, started off a bit reserved, but quickly turned into a highlight of our visit. She was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. We ordered the Cowboy Scrambler, which continues to be a rockstar breakfast choice—loaded with onions, ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, and rich gravy all over fluffy biscuits. The side of hash brown casserole? Pure comfort food heaven!

Now, the only thing that continues to miss the mark for me is the coffee. I’ve given it a few chances, and each time it’s just too bitter for my taste. Sadly, this visit was no different—one sip and I was done.

A big shoutout to one of the supervisors who circled back to check on every table and ensure everything was going smoothly—excellent touch! Aside from the lackluster coffee and a neutral host experience, the service and food were both on point. If you’re looking for a hearty, satisfying breakfast with genuinely caring staff (and you don’t mind bitter coffee), The Toasted Yolk is still a...
