UPDATED REVIEW 5/3/2025: Great concert venue as long as it's cool outside. They have a huge lawn section, but I prefer the reserved seats under the covered structure with large outdoor fans. The security checkpoint was detailed and therefore made me feel very safe. They have a very strict purse policy. Either it must be 4.5 x 6 or it needs to be a stadium approved clear bag. We saw Billy Idol on May 3, 2025. The acoustics were great, the food and drink selections were plentiful, the restrooms were clean. Cynthia Woods hosts many genres of performances from country to rock and also comedy shows. The common space has metal picnic table with a large screen for viewing the show. This is typically where people go to smoke. All of the staff were very friendly. Wine was $11.06 per pour. High priced considering, but much better than some venues at $22.00 per pour. I went to a Bob Seger concert at this venue, a few years ago. I was not impressed with anything, but that may have been because there was a huge rain storm the same day of the concert. There seemed to be a lot of confusion as to how to coordinate things. It seems they have up to their game! 5/2/2019: Bob Seger concert, Thursday May 2... where do I start...? Hard to review this place when there were so many issues they could not control, so this review is to possibly help future issue from happening. Yes, the rain was terrible and the concert was delayed over 2-1/2 hours. That’s not even part of this review.
I love to visit The Woodlands mall, restaurants, doctors et. However, I hadn't visited Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion since my child's graduation (2012). I vividly recall the triple digit heat, the tight crowds, uncomfortable seats with limited viewing & a family member experiencing a heat exhaustion! 🥵 Nearly 14 years later, the experience is still exhausting! We were in a traffic jam literally for a 1.25 hours on Lake Robbins Dr; all the business entrances were 🚫 blocked off thus, drivers could not enter nor turn around until you reached a major intersection. The facility lacked traffic patrolling and assistance. The parking garage across from the facility was closed off from the main entrance but I could see drivers entering from the Market side. There was definitely a lack of accommodations for this event! People were literally walking 5 blocks or more...past the Kevin Brady library. Then there were the pedi cab cycles whom were charging $30/couple "one-way" and one particular driver was observed not even dropping off people at the venue but rather the wooded trail entrance near the u-drive for handicap♿️ vehicles! Yes, traffic was that backed up for "Uncle" Charlie Wilson's tour that I was able to observe multiple trips by the same drivers! I personally did a Lyft request inquiry & it was only $5 for a 4 passenger vehicle! Not to mention, I witnessed a lot of people surrendering their personal belongings in a big clear bag on the front lawn entrance. Otherwise, you could opt to walk 2 blocks to the Hyatt Centric and check in bags/purses etc for $20 or return to your vehicle. In the end, I wonder if all that's collected gets donated to the Woodlands Charity. Perhaps, we'll never know but I have no plans on attending any other shows there! I'll stick with the Hobby Center, Toyota Center, Smart Financial Center, any other place! The artist, Babyface & Charlie Wilson gave superb performances and this is my reasoning for the 3☆ vs a 5☆! Otherwise, with all the congestion & hassel *from traffic to premises, I'd given a...
Read moreHave seen three shows here this summer on the lawn, each time was a blast!!!. Staff is courteous and cheerful and makes things like metal detectors not so bad at an event you want to forget your worries and have a good time. There are free ice cold water dispeners if you bring approved empty bottles to refill, otherwise expect to pay $13 for a 25oz beer or $3 for bottled water. That said beer lines were never long so no missing much of your favorite band.
The women's bathroom line even after a big show wasn't too bad. There's like 20+ stalls in the restroom so even a long line moves fast. Buying merch was pleasant as well, was not rushed and when it's 95 degrees with 70% humidity and everyone is still smiling and friendly at 10pm I consider that quite amazing. I have health issues so take a little longer walking and staff never rushed me and was helpful.
Houston PD has officers on horseback all around the venue. It felt very safe.
Arrive early and get the $20 parking, it's worth every penny, otherwise you'll walk 1/2 mile through multiple businesses parking lots to get to your car after the show. It's a nice area though so if you don't mind a nice stroll there's lots of restaurants and bars to walk to after the show ends.
It's a two hour drive one way for us but we don't mind. We made some amazing memories this summer here including my eight year old daughters first concert (Heart and Joan Jett, oh yeahh!). Don't hesitate to see a show here. Ohh! And if you like to relax and don't care about seeing the band (sound is fine on the grass, I've seen bands up close before and quite prefer the relaxed atmosphere on the grass now!) lawn seats are awesome. You are allowed a gallon ziplock with food and a blanket. It pays to read the info people! We took ice cold cut up watermelon and kicked our shoes off and shared with all our neighbors who had no idea you could do that. Best time I've had in awhile! Humans aren't so bad when good music and food and drink are...
