Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Thousand Oaks

We found this hidden place in our Entertainment guide and drive over from having lunch at Farmer Brothers. The ice flight was a good choice..4 different flavors. We had cherry, mango, passion fruit and strawberry. We also had the chocolate custard cone with M&M's with was thick compared to soft serve. Rita's would not honor their coupon from Entertainment.com app (which would only have saved us $2.50 off of our $10 order)... They only Rita's rewards and coupons with bar codes. They said that they turned away others too. Rita's pays to be in this app for advertising. I am guessing management is not communicating with corporate. Before I could speak to management, another guest stepped in and paid for our orders.

I later wrote to Rita's corporate and Entertainment Guide who both said they would communicate with the owner but I have yet to hear back from the owner.

Corporate followed up to let me know they are still pursuing communication with the owner and management team. I appreciate their involvement...

Worst experience I ever had came to visit parents in town from Texas- the lady was so lifeless and didn’t care about the customer at all. There was clearly a coupon and national Free Ice day and she put my phone number in because the scanner she said was not working. And she said nothing shows I’ve never been at a place that doesn’t honor a coupon that is shown on my Iphone screen and basically she did not help out at all- she was saying put the ice cream sandwich back because she didn’t want to do it. I have never seen anything like this. It ruined Rita’s reputation entirely she gave me attitude when she said yeah you can try making a new account to see if it pops up rather than doing any override or anything on the initial coupon. So i had to make a new account and get something else because she wouldn’t honor the original one I had. I’m going to call the store tomorrow to complain because this was truly the worst experience I’ve had in...

Awful Experience – Avoid This Place!

I visited Rita’s last Friday (2/21/2025) after 12 PM, and it was absolutely disgusting. The woman who served me and my kids—who I believe was the manager—was coughing all over the place without a mask or any kind of cover. It was beyond unsanitary. I couldn’t believe someone handling food would be so careless, especially in a place serving ice cream to families.

I came all the way from Texas to visit my mom in Newbury Park, and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. If this is how they handle hygiene, I can’t imagine what else goes on behind the counter. I would never recommend this place to...
