Sushi Yusho — Restaurant in Thousand Oaks

Best sushi restaurant in all of Westlake, Thousand Oaks, and Camarillo hands down. I usually come in with my family once every two weeks, and every time we are greeted with a smile and the traditional welcome in Japanese. The two owners are very nice and courteous at every request. I've eaten here a few times with picky eaters, and they always help us find something that meets their needs. It's a family-run restaurant, which I personally prefer over larger chains. The sushi chef Steve is always willing to strike up a conversation when you sit at the sushi bar, and it's fascinating to watch his nimble hands quickly create world-class sushi and sashimi for hungry customers. For those that have a little experience with Japanese cuisine, you'll find that their kitchen produces very authentic and flavorful dishes, including several dishes that you don't usually find locally like their salmon kama. My mom and I have a new favorite spot that we will regular from now on. That was by far the best salmon teriyaki I have ever had at a restaurant, perfectly cooked and fresh caught! The portion sizes were huge. Everything was just the way I wish it would be. The hot tea serves hot in a pot was a delight, as well. I cannot wait to go back again. The prices were extremely fair considering the excellent quality of the food. My mom and I both ordered the dinner special that came with three options; we got the salmon teriyaki, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and gyoza. I also had a delicious seaweed salad.

The food here is always great and the service is always great too! This is my favorite Japanese restaurant but I will not be coming back here. I went for dinner for last night and the owners were talking poorly about our waitress the whole time, saying things like "I don't know why she's acting like she is busy, she's not. I don't know what she is doing." When she accidentally gave sushi to the wrong table, they yelled at her in front of EVERYONE in the restaurant. It was difficult to watch! I felt so bad for the waitress and I'm sure the other customers felt uncomfortable too. I have NEVER had an experience like this before. Treat your employees...
