I have never reviewed a restaurant before, but feel compelled to do so after our most recent experience here. We have been loyal costumers and fans of the Peking for several years now! We felt so lucky to have such an amazing Chinese restaurant in our little town that was always made fresh to order. We didn't mind waiting the 45 minutes each time for our food because we knew we would always end up with delicious, hot, and freshly made food. This place recently came under new ownership and we decided to give it a try tonight. Not only did all the entrees increase by about $4 each (from $12 to $16) our food was ready in less than 15 minutes. This immediately was a turn-off as that tells me all the food was sitting premade in hot pots. Well, it definitely tasted as such. It was all awful. There was no taste/flavor to any of our 6 entrees that we ordered and it was cold by the time we got home. For the first time in my Chinese-food-eating life, I couldn't even bring myself to finish my plate when normally we are all fighting over seconds! To boot, in the past with each entree they've always given a fortune cookie. These new owners gave ONE COOKIE with our $80 order. One. So we gave it to our toddler to open (which she always looks forward to after finishing her plate of Chinese food), and there wasn't even a fortune inside! It was just a cookie. By this point in our disappointment, my husband and I just started laughing at the absurdity of our awful experience. Needless to say after this long-winded review, we will sadly no longer be loyal customers of our local...
Read moreBest Chinese food ever! We were passing through and stopped to take a look at the Sacajawea Hotel, While we were across the street I noticed the Peking China restaurant. To be honest I chuckled 'how good could the Chinese food be in Montana', I won't make that mistake again. Since we were getting hungry I looked at the reviews and saw that it was rated 4.6 stars, so we figured we'd give it a try. I'm sure glad we did, although the 4.6 stars is underrating it. We're from California ( don't hold that against us, we left) and have had the opportunity to dine at some truly world class restaurants. Peking is hands down the best Chinese food we've had. We shared their crab won tons, prawns with walnuts, and chicken lo mien. Large portions of everything, absolutely fresh and full of flavor. At first I was a little taken back at the prices, but not after tasting the food. Employees were friendly and efficient, bringing each plate as it was cooked, our waitress was very friendly and took really good care of us. As we travel, I will definitely make it a point to come back to Three Forks just for the...

That said, finding this place in a small Montana town was a wonderful surprise. It's a family-owned spot, which I always treat as a good sign. At dinner today, the first school day after Labor Day, the owners' kids were helping out. Turned out to be better than most of the Chinese joints back home in Minnesota, and goes toe to toe with the most memorable meals I've had at Chinese spots on other trips.
Service was quick, filling our table with dishes in less than the time it took to eat our hot & sour soup (a must-try, free of unnecessary thickener). Pot stickers were crispy and delicate, nothing like the chewy mess I usually find at home. Moo shu was delightful, with airier spring pancakes than I've ever seen.
Felt like countering one of the 1-star reviews from months or years ago, because this restaurant right here is my number-one reason for coming through Three Forks again next time I'm...
