Hong Kong Kitchen — Restaurant in Tipp City

I cannot believe the reviews I am seeing on this site for this restaurant. I live here, and I remember eating here once in 2020, and not really remembering much about it other than I didn't really like it. I figured, they have been here a long time, and I gave it another shot tonight. I ordered chicken chow mein, pepper steak special combo plate, and crab rangoons. The chicken chow mein was bland, slimy, thin, fatty-feeling chicken, in a cornstarch sauce that had very little flavor. I drowned it in Soy Sauce to wash some down...the vegetables looked fresh, but had a weird, slightly burnt flavor? The pepper steak had the exact same problems, the exact same flavor as the chicken, but looked liked steak - thin, slimy, and like it was bathed in bland cornstarch. It literally was the exact same flavor and feeling of meat as the chicken? The egg roll was the best part of the meal - and was OK. The crab rangoons - I mean, I have never had a crab rangoon in sweet and sour sauce that I didn't like - but again, the sweet and sour sauce was bland, and the flavors were off - like barely sweet cornstarch sauce? The pastry itself was just ok. I debated about writing this review - seemed like nice people behind the counter - and the bathrooms and place looked clean, but the inside stinks pretty bad, and the food was truly...it just was not good in my opinion. Honestly, I look at these reviews, and then I think about the food I am going to throw away, and I am just so confused -...

Don't get me wrong, the food was okay, cheap, and good portions for take out. But the owner was rude as hell. Driving home from an all day event all I wanted was some noodles and spicy meat but never stopping here again despite the convenience. 1. How are you literally going to argue with a customer about what they want?? I know what Chow Mein noodles are and didn't freaking want lo mein. 2. Argue about adding shrimp to an order despite saying we'll pay extra. 3. THERE'S NO REASON TO BE RUDE! Be grateful people are paying for your dingy low lit...

The food is good and the prices are reasonable. The people working there are very nice people. The one thing that absolutely repulses me is, there is a man that works there and cooks the food, and on any given day he will be cooking, and all of the sudden he will start hocking/clearing his throat, like he's coughing up a loogie. The most disgusting thing when he's cooking the food that you are sitting there trying to eat/enjoy! It literally makes me sick to...
