I love the location of this place beautiful view of the bridge outside. Walking in the first room on the side entrance is kind of gross but then you keep walking further you enter this beautiful cafe filled with many plants and dark brown wood. A big glass skylight and people doing their work at tables. Right away I went to look around to check out the decor and architecture. I do say you see only African artwork on the walls which kind of gets confusing with the theme they’re going for. I’d feel just as confused if I saw Saudi Arabian art or Chinese art in a place that isn’t decorated related to those peoples homelands. It gives me African people trying to make a new age white hipster cafe but just have paintings of Africans and name the place earth to be edgy. So right away it’s this weird confusing vibe. Then we go to order food and sit down, right when I take off my coat this place is freezing cold and is cold for the entire time of being there. After about 15- minutes we got our food, avocado toast and the breakfast plate. I was told this breakfast plate was not that big by the guy at the register but this thing was huge. Also you are not told that the potato’s are spicy so be careful getting potatoes. Eggs were nice and buttery and bacon was good. Avocado toast was alright not super flavorful but it was okay. Also the kitchen got my order wrong when I told them I wanted bacon and not sausage but they did get it fixed. Also the smoothies are good just have those weird biodegradable straws that are gritty and look like Mexican candy. Overall the experience was okay, if I wasn’t so freezing cold I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more. Also I suggest serving african foods and drinks and playing African music if you’re going to throw African art everywhere might as well make it an African cafe. I think it’d be more interesting since you already see the same kind of cafes as this everywhere. Be a little more original and make your art make sense. I would go back just...
Read moreMy wife and I finally had an opportunity to stop out and give Earth a try. We absolutely loved the aesthetic and comfort of the space. The openness inside, the number of plants throughout the shop, quality workspaces, pool tables, etc., were outstanding. It was everything we had expected.
Unfortunately, the customer service was poor. Just plain poor. First of all, they were open until 1:00 on Saturday, Dec. 16. We stopped in close to Noon (we live about an hour west of Toledo and don't get the opportunity to stop out during the week time), but the door was locked. We tried to walk around and find the correct opening. When we realized we were in the right place, we rang the bell. A barista came to the door and coldly said "oops, the wedge must have "slipped out from the door".
When we went to the counter to order, we asked to try the brunch specials. The baristas looked around and said "well, we close at 1...so...umm...we can't make anything". Interesting, as there were a few other people already having brunch. Instead, we ordered just our drinks. While waiting on our drinks, we had to wait for the baristas to finish scrolling through their phones. Not a fan of that, especially since it doesn't take long to make our drinks.
In all, great atmosphere and drinks. Customer service needs improvement...along with keeping...
Read moreI was super excited to see this inside garden space. Upon walking in, I was happy to finally see it in person. Lovely space, great decor. Every nook and cranny is used. Seating everywhere. This cafe allows for members only spaces, providing great work areas. We approached the cafe counter. The black barista was super nice. Informative and the most welcoming. The barista that took my husband’s order was not willing nor able to provide information regarding the coffee notes without being pride open about it. You gotta know your beans to sell them. Also, their pastries are ridiculously priced. This isn’t a “if you’re broke say so” moment either. $8.50 & $9.00 for a croissant is madness!! In what world? Not even the better bakeries in Montreal nor France would ever charge that much for a mediocre pasty. Being that the minimum wage in Ohio is $10.70 per hour, Earth’s own employees would have to work 30-60 mins to pay for a croissant. The staff themselves can’t afford to eat there. Will most likely not come back for the cafe. Glad I saw the lovely space that has been established…but the pictures I originally saw of the food was not at all what we encountered. One star for the plants & one star for the nice...
