Jamaican spice — Restaurant in Toledo

So the first time I ate here it was great probably because the owner was there the second time I went to the other location it was good but I’m pretty sure they jerked the chicken b4 they brown stewed it which if your Jamaican yk that’s not supposed to be jerked at all if you gonna brown stew it lol so one night before closing i came ordered a curry goat oxtail a extra large plate boy were we disappointed most of the curry goat was just skin and bones and we got two oxtails one of them was a small itty bitty piece then the other was medium size. I feel like they did that because I don’t look Jamaican so they thought I wouldn’t know what a good plate was fr 🇯🇲 if you paying a certain price for something at least make the plate decent but the rum punch is really good tho ❤️ so a few weeks pass I’m hungry and I stop by to get some pattys the lady tells me it’ll be 5mins so I wait 5mins turns into 20mins b4 I finally get my food and one of the pattys is not the flavor I order 😫 I see a flyer in there advertising a free food giveaway so Ive been waiting for weeks I show up to the free food giveaway they turn me away and said it was too many ppl they ran out of food and it ended at 5 I got there 5:07 many ppl still in line so I tell the guy was there anything they could do like give me a coupon or something (not for free food I was willing to pay but maybe a percentage off or anything I’m a loyal customer) he says no there’s nothing they can do. Disappointing experience all around. I placed an online order for pickup and was told it would be ready by 6:37 PM. I waited in my car and went in at 6:35 PM, only to be told by the woman at the counter that it would be "a few minutes." That turned into over 20 minutes of waiting—for food I ordered ahead of time.

When I finally asked for an update, I was told they hadn’t even noticed my online order until I showed up. So they didn’t even start preparing it until I was already there. Absolutely ridiculous.

To make matters worse, I asked for jerk sauce on my catfish—didn’t get it. I also asked for hot sauce on the side when I finally received my food, and the woman literally disappeared for over two minutes. For hot sauce. I just gave up and left.

On top of all that, it was a Monday evening and the music inside was so loud you couldn’t even hear yourself think. Completely unnecessary for a weekday and made the wait even more irritating.

Maybe I could have overlooked the poor service if the portions were generous, but they’re not. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing visit. I won’t...

I love this place! I live closer to the one on Byrne and Dorr, but this one takes the cake. Being able to order using their website now makes me love it even more. My mom really wanted to try Jamaican food, but didn't know where to go, so I told her this is the best place to go. After going through the menu, she decided on Jerk Chicken with rice and peas(dark kidney beans), and a beef patty. I did the same, but got green beans with my meal as well. When picking up, it was a quiet, nice location. Sometimes it is not, but I would enjoy coming out here to dance or have fun. The worker that gave us our online order did not seem excited to be there, but it's fine, I understand. After we got our food, we stopped at the bar to get a frozen Rum punch to go. She tried the food and fell in love. The beef patty is flaky and delicious, still hot like they just took it out of the grease when we got there. The drink is strong and tasty.
