This review is when the restaurant was called El Jovenaso (2021).

We went for a later lunch, just two of us. Started out with fresh tortilla chips & super fresh homemade salsa (definitely mild). We asked for a hotter salsa which was very hot (I know everyone’s palate is different). I put little “drips” on my chip to try, where my husband who tolerates heat better than me, ate a lot more. He had tears in his eyes 😂! But we mixed the two for our meal & it was perfect for us. Our lunches were fast & delicious. I ordered a steak taco “Mexican” style (corn tortilla & cilantro & onion) an el pastor sopé (which a lot of Mexican restaurants do not make), & rice & beans. The sopé was excellent! My husband got the spicy pork burrito. It had a “zing” to it, and the pork was very tender. We thought they had good rice & refried beans. We also shared a lime margarita that was made with real limes. They do have a full bar & a lot of tequila choices. We cannot wait to go back out to eat & try more authentic Mexican dishes.

️⃣️⃣. NACHOS REVIEW 2025️⃣️⃣*️⃣

We were so happy to see that they reopened after the fire that took the building. However, it is either under new owners or new cooks. This time our jalapeño margarita was NOT made from scratch, it was made with a gallon jug of margarita mix. Plus it was a jumbo sized for about $18 & I swear, there was not any or very little tequila (a jumbo marg, I should be buzzed after drinking it). The food we ordered was way over seasoned, very salty, even the refried beans. The homemade guacamole was not made fresh, because it was lacking the green color and it was served cold. Knowing that avocados will brown, most restaurants make it from scratch. My street tacos came with an avocado cream (?) and it did not taste fresh. Not at all what I remember from before. For what is the only option for Mexican food in the area, it’s not that great. Not sure you will find that in northern Wisconsin. I included our food pictures from this last trip, and you can see the flavored margarita mix gallons. I wish it were the old El...

I have been going to Nachos before it was Nachos and the food was amazing I even had them cater my 40th wedding anniversary which again was amazing. However in the last 2 years the food has steadily declined in flavor, freshness and is floating in grease. My husband and I decided to give them another chance and went for dinner the other night and were severely disappointed once again. They no longer have combination plates and you have to order each item ala carte. I ordered a regular margarita.and it was it tasted old like it had been sitting around. We both ordered a chili rellano and he ordered a chicken enchilada. I also ordered a cheese enchilada and rice and beans. All ala carte. The rellanos were greasy, the breading was flat like a crust instead of having some fluffiness to it and there was very little cheese. It just tasted like grease. The enchilada, beans and rice were all bland and tasteless. There were no spices or flavor to. The food has no authenticity to it and has been watered down taste the American taste buds. The service was very good but I go for authentic Mexican food. The only thing that was good food wise was the salsa. It was fresh, spicy and had the authentic flavor. Now if they could only do that with the rest of their menu. I'm sorry to say we...

Worse experience ever!!

We ordered the fajitas, with what they advertised as shrimp, lobster and scallops. The "lobster" was imitation crab meat!

We also ordered a large cheese dip (queso) and we were brought out a rather small bowl, when I asked if it was a large she reassured me that it was, so we decided to simply order another large. When she brought the 2nd one out, it was obviously larger! (Both pictured below)

We had to wait forever to get boxes, our rocket, to pay our ticket and retrieve my card!! When I had finally ran out of patience and asked for a manager, I was told the owner was who was handling my card. I waited and never saw the manager, simply was given my receipt and told that the owner was sorry!!

When we received our ticket, there were 3 charges of $7.99, 1= a side of steak for the fajitas and 2 = large quesos (different sizes!) We also noticed that there was a 5.5% gratuity added and there were only 2 of us! After we received my card receipt, there was an additional $2.36 for a "non cash charge"! I had cash on me!! Had I known there was a charge to use my card, I would have used cash! Unbelievable!!! (Ticket and card receipt below)

Never...

It may be that I'm just spoiled by La Taqueria which is my local Mexican option, but El Jovenaso was only good, not great. The carnitas street tacos (Mexican style) were excellent with plenty of meat, but the nachos fajitas were a bit bland in comparison. The queso and salsa were the smallest servings I've ever received at a Mexican restaurant as well which was disappointing. The monster margarita was just ok, clearly not a scratch made margarita but quantity made up for quality. All in all, solid food but slightly pricy for the quality.

We love this place. They are extremely friendly and have amazing food. Their drinks are wonderful and the food even better. Highly recommended you stop in and try it for yourself you don't be disappointed. Try adding a jalapeño to your margarita it your drink spicy and refreshing. Jalapeño mango is my favorite combination.
