Paradise Donuts — Restaurant in Topeka

I had very high hopes for this place because multiple people recommended them as I was planning my daughter in laws baby shower. However, I was let down! when I first called to make an order The woman on the phone was very condescending and interrupting me as I was trying to explain what I was wanting . All I wanted was regular glazed donuts with pink yellow and teal colored frosting on the tops, I placed my order and she gave me a time for pick up. I arrived on time to pick up my order and I waited in line as she served the other customers, I observed that she was rude to everyone in line ahead of me. When I got up to the counter I noticed that the donuts were stacked on top of each other and the tops of the boxes were touching the tops of the donuts. She was rude to me while I was checking out and I got out of there as fast as possible, I would’ve said something about the quality but I wanted to avoid conflict because the baby shower was about to start. Below I will post some pictures of the donuts they looked a complete mess they looked unprofessional and the frosting on some had come off to the bottoms of others from being stacked on each other and everyone was dissatisfied with the taste of them as well. I normally don’t leave reviews and the only reason I am is because of how rudely I was treated as a paying customer. Most the time I can handle one or the other; rude service but a good product or a bad product but good service, however this place had bad service and unimpressive donuts. Went in with an open mind, a growling belly and a ridiculous fondness for all things pastry(SUGAR) related and came out, four donuts and a frappe later, pleased as punch with both the staff and the menu.

I chose the strawberry Bismarck, custom-filled when you order, assuming so the donut doesn't get soggy like it's pre-filled kin, although that's just an assumption. Whatever the reason, I'm on board. Custom-filled upon order is what's up with the Bismarck. The two I had were omg delish, one glazed chocolate(see what I did there? Strawberries and chocolate. In a donut. You're welcome), the other one white, thick sugary goodness. Both donuts were the size of a large saucer, so you certainly get your money's worth.

My companion had the maple glazed option and was equally as happy as me with his selection. We also had a white chocolate frappe to wash down all that glorious, sugary perfection.

The staff member assisting us this morning was courteous, knowledgeable, attentive and had our order together and presented to us quite expeditiously. I found no fault whatsoever in the exchange. The owner was there as well, greeted us when we arrived and went about his business, making and selling amazing donuts, puff pastries and gigantic cinnamon rolls.

Had a pretty poor selection of doughnuts on sat morning, 9/22. Looked like they were running behind. Seen lots of great reviews but didn’t get to experience anything like that on this visit. :(

Update 9/22 evening - Per the business reply, running a small business is hard. -understood

I arrived at 10am and was looking forward to some doughnuts after finding a nearby doughnut shop closed though google advised they would be open.

Not your fault, but certainly you can understand my frustration when I arrived and your shop had 1-2 trays of long johns and other doughnuts with several people in line waiting and nothing else to choose from. It looked as if you had just arrived. There was very little in the way actual selection at the time and I was not looking to wait. (I found a nice doughnut shop down the street that had a wide selection at the time.)

I gave you a 2 star review for that. You simply didn’t have any doughnut selection at the time. If 3 stars is average then certainly it seems fair to give you a below average review.
