We moved from Howard Beach 2 years ago. We bought a house in Dollard Drive. I usually walk my dog every day. I stopped by this bakery. Most of the time I will leave my dog outside, while I purchase bread & pastries. I dont know if the Woman that is always there is the owner, but she is the nicest person i ever met. I am a regular attendee of this bakery. Since I had throat cancer, I really can't speak so I carry my phone with me for messaging. Every day I usually buy bread a cannoli or Apple turnover. I point to the lady what I want. Many times there are young ladies working the counter. They are all wonderful and helpful. Now they let me and my Dog enter the bakery. He is very well behaved, most of time i buy a small cannoli for Duke. My Wife loves the Cannoli & the Apple turnover. I always leave a tip for them. Whether us winter, summer, rain, snow, heat i have to stop and get a pastry or bread. The name if the Bakery is appropriate. They are...
Read moreFor almost 33 years I shopped at A&G bakery for EVERY occasion. Even when I moved away I would travel back to A&G, until now. What happened? I ordered a birthday cake. Spent $50 and it was the worst cake I’d ever had. Frozen Sara Lee would’ve been better. Nothing like what it used to be. I was embarrassed to serve it. Stale cake that was hard around the edges was clearly frozen and defrosted. And melting whipped cream that tasted more like cool whip than the A&G whipped cream that my family loved. My whole family was shocked and disappointed. After researching we’ve come to find out that it has new owners for a few months now. I’m heartbroken. I will never spend another dime there. I used to travel 20 minutes just for A&G for every family birthday, holiday, and special occasion. Now if A&G were the only bakery on Long island I’d buy an Entenmans cake first. Congratulations to the new owners, you took one of the best bakery’s on Long Island...
Read moreWas in there this morning. Asked the lady at the counter for 2 Irish Soda Breads. One with Raisins and one without. She tells me they all come with raisins. For the past 9 years I have always gotten one with raisin and one plain so I'm pretty sure she just didn't want to go in the back and look or just doesn't know. So I walked out and took the advise of a friend which I should of listened to them a long time ago. They told me.to just drive the extra 15 miles to a bakery in Smithtown as they have better quality and better prices. They stopped going to A&G 2 years ago do to quality. So I took the ride to Smiththtowns best bakery and I was able to get both breads there and I also got 5 cannoli and 5 custard St Joseph Pastries for $4.50 each and they were huge which A&G was charging $5.50 for each and looked like minis compared...
