Having been long time Garden Bistro diners (we were there for their last evening of service), we decided to give the new Mint a try. We were overall impressed, but there were some caveats to that.
First up: atmosphere. It is very dark in the restaurant, with black ceiling, dark wallpaper, and low level lighting. I had the benefit of windows behind me, so I could see in ambient light, but my wife struggled to read her menu. We noticed there was no lighting over our hightop table for two.
Service: Service was incredibly friendly and efficient. Our server, Emily, was excellent and helpful. Top notch.
The food: My wife ordered the mussels entree. It came with two enormous pieces of bread, which my wife said were drenched in oil, which was unappealing. She ended up scooping out the middle to avoid the unnecessary calories of the oil coated outside. Her mussels were described as 'excellent', and they were plentiful. I ordered the chicken schnitzel which was so good I'll have dreams about it. I'm not a brussel sprouts fan, but they were so delicious I wolfed them down. My only disappointment with my food was that it wasn't endless. So good!
Drinks: Beer selection was good, but it wasn't apparent they had anything on draft. My wife had herbal teas, to which she noted her tea water came out appropriately hot - a plus - rather than tepid as we've experienced at many restaurants.
Desserts: I had a chocolate layer cake that was very good and right sized for the meal. The other option was carrot cake.
Finally, the bill. It was pricey, with our bill for two entrees, a beer, two teas, and a dessert, including tax & gratuity, coming in just under $110.
This place is a gem, but I'm not sure we can afford to visit on a regular basis, but we'll be...
Read moreOur first time there for lunch.. England- India Or exotic elegance is the atmosphere.. Very well done.. The presentation of linen tablecloths and well set tables Gives one the sense of elegance.. Both the hostess and the server were very professional.. Attentive but not overly so.. The food was presented beautifully and Strived to be different.. Now the suggestive criticisms.. The flatware wrapped in paper nepkins was rather a downer one would expect linen.. Though the server was very professional her attire was not ..Ripped jeans and a careless top.. Black pants and shirt would have been far more appropriate.. The food my wife had the pasta Bolognese.. A different take and very interesting... I had the curry dish.. The Curry sauce lacked in a depth of flavor and to my tastes should have been a bit more spicy in other words it was bland.. As a suggestion use French saucing techniques with curry the result can be spectacular.. The vegetables consisted mostly of Califlower..it seemed they just took raw Califlower and Sprinkled in a mix of the occasional thinly sliced onion and pepper And barely warmed them.. I had To use a knife and a fork to cut the vegetable into smaller pieces.. So the bottom line is whether we will be back and the answer is yes.. I know they...
Read moreThis place is the real deal. Went here with my vegan friend early on a Saturday night and was blown away. We go out all the time and have never come across such incredible, fresh, unique flavors. We ate completely vegan foods (im a meat eater) and I could not be more excited that this place is just down the street from me. The cocktails were incredible, the food was incredible, the bartender was so fun to chat with, and the owner spent time speaking with us. This place is the real deal. I will be back and I will not gatekeep how wonderful of a time I had there.
We had multiple cocktails (all amazing) pickle plate, Korean BBQ, the fingerling potatoes, savory board, and the panna cotta. Literally all perfection. I am so obsessed. Thank you so so so much for the best vegan meal I...
