Beautiful Arboretum in the middle of a neighborhood. You will mostly see trees along the trail with the exception of the flowers at the entrance of the park. There isn't a ton of parking but I went on a weekday evening so we didn't have any trouble finding a spot. My main complaint about this place is that a lot of the trees don't have a plaque or label. Some of the specimens are contained within wire fencing and have very old tags that are difficult to read. Other than that if you don't care about identifying every species, this is a great place to take a walk and relax. There are a couple of very beautiful ponds as well as open spaces that you could meditate or just sit down on a bench and read, or just let your...
Read moreThis former private residence is now the home of some amazing trees, ponds, wildlife, and 22 acres of walking paths. Although the house itself is closed for covid reasons, the grounds remain open all year round and are free to explore. We enjoyed a leisurely walk in May, appreciating the blooming magnolias, dogwood, and some early peonies. There are at least eight ponds on the property, so you really need bug spray or long pants as the seasons get warmer. The trails are fairly well maintained, but there are some spots with high grass, so you should also take check afterwards. Be sure to pick up a brochure as you begin your walk or you may get turned around. There are no maps once you are out on the trail. Have...
Read moreThe Arboretum is great for a nice walk through nature. However, with all, and I mean a lot, of different paths and side-paths, it is pretty easy to get lost. The trails are not well marked, there are no markers to keep you on the main paths (and you can't tell a side paths from the main paths) and there are no identification markers on the trail, or on the map, to correspond with one another so that you know where you are in the woods. We were there nearing dusk and actually became concerned as we were way in the back and all of the little side trails kept sending us in circles. A few more markers so that we knew where we were would have made our walk much...
