I've heard lots of people saying that it's the doctors and pharmacists that are making the country run during the pandemic, but they're wrong. It's the people who put themselves directly in harms way, working as shelf stockers, fry cooks, and drive-thru cashiers that are helping everyone else maintain their familiar quality of life. Macy's place is absolutely no exception, and I'm really happy to see that they're working as hard as ever.
My wife and I couldn't decide on what to order; we never can. She wanted a calzone, and I wanted the spicy pickle popper pizza. On hearing the details of our impasse, the guy that answered our call made an exception, and allowed us to order the Buffalo Big Crust, which is half calzone, half cheese and pepperoni pizza, but with the pizza side as the pickle popper instead. He did warn me, that the pizza side might be a bit overdone, since the calzone side takes longer to cook. I accepted the risk, and placed the order. 30 minutes, and our blasphemous love child will be ready.
We arrived a bit early, and just as we did, so did 4 other cars. Apparently 1:40 is a popular lunch time, who knew. I ventured inside and waited in the loose line that had formed. I'm used to Macy's being a flurry of people quickly churning out as many pizzas and wings as they can, but it seemed like only 4 or 5 people were working at the time, obviously due to the state-wide mandate to keep most of the workforce at home. Although the place was eerily calm, it was also immaculately clean, smelling faintly of Lysol and... something a bit floral that I couldn't identify. The point is, it was nice. Clean, but not overpowering. I had my order cashed out quickly, and was told my pizza would be ready in about 5 minutes, so I meandered back to the car, to stop the other patrons from giving me funny looks for daring to stand within 5 feet of them during this, what shall obviously be the end of the world, somehow.
Well, wouldn't you know it, 5 minutes later on the dot, I got a text letting me know my order was ready. In fact, it was awaiting my triumphant return on the front counter as I entered the building again. I graciously accepted my cheesy, crusted treasure, and away we went. They say Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but lemme tell you, my stomach hath no fury, like when it's hungry and you place a pizza mere inches from it. I couldn't help myself; I had to have a piece of pizza before The Voices commanded me to commit unspeakable acts of horror upon everything around me. Thankfully, my wife was driving, so it was just a matter of making her angry at me for eating in her car, for me to sate my hunger.
If you have a moment, Google Image Search the phrase "The way this girl looks at pizza". I am not a girl, but that is exactly the look I had on my face as I dug into The Precious. At this point, I really want to commend Macy's Place on how that pizza came out. The calzone side was perfectly cooked, but frankly, that's the wife's side, and she enjoyed it, but it wasn't my focus. But that pickle popper side. Hoo man, that pickle popper pizza. I loved everything about it. From the hot, bubbly cheese, to the way the pickles were flavorful but not overpowering, to how the jalapenos were just-hot-enough, to the perfect coverage of the seasonings. Every flavor was balanced and represented well! What really got me though, was the crust. Oh man, that crust! Caramelized beautifully, perfectly crispy, it crunched when you bit into it, but not a single lick of it was burnt. I dunno which employee made it, or if everyone pitched in, or what, but you all deserve some extra PTO at the end of the day.
Apparently, Google has a character limit on their reviews, which I have reached, angering me beyond rational thought, and also requiring me to delete the last paragraph of this review. So, I'll just say to anyone reading this, go see for yourselves how good it is! I know I have got to order a well done Pickle Popper...
Read moreI think I caught a bad day but see potential for a great pizza joint I'll def give a 2nd chance!
Let me start this with it was a Sunday during football season and a lil over an hour before close. I'm sure they had a long day, I'm sure I didn't catch them at their best, things do happen and I will definitely be giving them a 2nd chance and will hopefully gladly be able to give a better review after.
This was a very weirdly conflicting first time here. Got a pizza and 20 wings. The wings were a mix of a 1 third realy meaty wings, some average smaller ones and a third were weird chard meatless bones (which im seeing at alot of places lately). The edible wings were realy good! The blue cheese was actual blue cheese not that watered down nonsense some places are doing. The wings were like some great some ok some really terrible like the lil tip part that's just skin and bone that usually dosnt get sold as a wing I was actually suprised they were in there counted as a wing. Then again a few were quite meaty and jumbo and that suprised me too.
The pizza was the same mix of good and bad. Flavor and toppings were great but our pizza wasnt cooked right it was soggy and undercooked in the middle. Not my norm but i accepted it and ate it with a fork and knife cause you just couldnt pick it up to eat HOWEVER it was pretty darn tastey so I just pretended Im classy I guess using cutlery for pizza?. Like I said I think they had a long day and things happen. However let me tell you this they do not skimp on toppings and the sauce and pepperoni were really good! I'm gonna bet this is normally a really good pizza and look farward to giving it another try to find out I bet this could be a 5 star place on another day.
Price is not bad seems on par with average prices but less cutting of corners that some places are doing so koodos to them.
Looked clean and sanatary enough like a normal busy pizza kitchen. Person at register was realy friendly!
They have a pretty fun looking menue with some unique specialty pizza and subs.
small businesses are not easy and they deserve a lil extra slack, we all have off days. I saw enough things that leave me hoping that it's mabey a realy great place and I just caught an off day after a long busy...
Read moreMacy's Place is its own worst enemy. A popular pizza place that has recently raised to fame, has received a lot of attention, yet is failing. The food is okay, I am unsure if I would buy it again, however the reason this review gets 1 out of 5 stars is due to the extremely poor service. Any place of business, especial in the food services, customer service and the experience should be as much of a priority as the food. Without good service, with the food just being good, people are not likely to return. Tonight, when picking up my order of two pizzas, after I received an alert from Macy's Place that the food was done, I entered the business, paid for my food, and the staff assisting me failed to go physically into the kitchen to get my food. She continued to do something on the register and decided to wait on someone else who walked in. Being in the restaurant business myself, I wanted to see what would follow. I waited 30 minutes until finally I went up and asked to speak with someone to see if my order was ready. I was forgotten about. I was never asked while sitting for 30 minutes if I needed anything or if i had been attended too. The best part, when they finally went back to get my order, I watched, and the boxes were just sitting there the whole time from what I saw when I first walked in as I watched it the whole time (the food ended up being cold). Now, this could be an isolated instance, but the major reason for writing this, there were five people in the place who this happened to as well that then followed suit after I. I watched them all go up and ask for their food, it was all ready, however the staff in the front forgot about them. This poor customer service will ruin a restaurant, and I beg the owner to obtain more help in the front, get a second register, or train your staff better. Having "okay" food is not enough and if the service is poor, your restaurant will eventually fail. If working in the front, and you see a group of people sitting there, the least you could do is ask if they need anything or ask for what their order is to check on it again. Then thank them and apologize for the wait. Do not slam the boxes down and go on...
