Not a fan. Someone from SoCal recommended this place to me, so I thought I could take his opinion seriously. However, it was not all he claimed it would be. And I’m saying this from someone who is also from SoCal… but also Mexican. And while the food was decent at best, the whole thing just didn’t land.
First off, the prices are outrageous. Let’s start with drinks. $16.99 is the cheapest margarita you can get. Granted, it comes in one of those giant glasses, but I just wanted a reasonable sized glass, and would have considered it for even half the price if it existed (which is still steep considering the place definitely does NOT scream upscale/high prices [read: it’s a very small and run down type place in the middle of a not so great area]). So I got a soda. Did not feel like drowning in margarita that night. Entrees started on average at $16 and just went up. Yes you could get a cheap bean and cheese burrito for $6, but who wants that? Tacos were about $5 each. My friends’ nachos were MEGA SKIMPY and didn’t even have enough chip to eat the toppings with. She had to BUY more chips (oh ya and chip baskets are tiny and you only get one free one and then you have to buy them at $2e!). Their burritos were drenched in queso, which gave my one friend a huge bellyache. I got fajitas and a sope. The sope was hands down the best thing!!! And that’s something you legit can’t find anywhere, so that was a huge treat (they also have molcajete, which is another unicorn Mexican food item around here). The rice and beans were average. So besides the sope, which is saving this review from being completely in the toilet, the food was not worth writing home about whatsoever. I was also disappointed that they didn’t have Taquitos or any soups. Would have been awesome to see Menudo on the menu. Oh and the location is a bit shady, as mentioned, so beware. Parking lot is down an alleyway to get to the restaurant, and there were unsavory characters scattered around, to say it politely. All in all, not going to go back that’s for sure. I’d rather drop that kind of money at Hombre y Lobo (phenom) or La Divina (legit!!), where you can stuff your face for half that price for way...
Read moreI was really torn on leaving this review, and also on only giving 2 stars. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I feel compelled to tell my experience. Let me start by saying the tacos were pretty damn GOOD they exceeded my expectations! However... they are a bit overpriced $4 and $6 for 1 taco is a little much but definitely was good. Now... let me explain the reason for 2 stars, my experience. It was horrible, I sat at the bar I am traveling and usually it's good service. I am not sure if the young lady behind the bar had an issue with me, or maybe I Said something that made her treat me the way she did. I ordered 3 tacos, when the Tacos came out she just threw the plate in front of me and walked away. Maybe it's because she was trying to close up, but I was there at 8pm. It took one of the other gentleman to tell me there was sauces and toppings behind me and to please help myself, which I did. Like I said the tacos were delicious, one of the super friendly friendly waiters came over and made conversation with me. He was awesome and the reason I didn't Give 1 star, I really messed up not sitting at the dining area he was great, lively, funny and great personality. I didn't catch his name, he was the wolverine hair guy, you'll know when you see him high energy and very welcoming. Anyways the tacos were so good I wanted to order more, the young lady didn't give me any silverware no napkins, I had to ask for a napkin and instead of asking me how everything was, if I liked the food, or needs anything else she just threw the bill at me and I asked her if I was getting kicked out. She said I'll just put it here, and walked away... I was so disappointed and truly was made felt like I was not wanted there that I didn't order more food an left hungry... no one should feel like that when I left I was 830 wasn't like I was keeping them from closing... not sure but I hope she works on her customer service because everyone else seemed to be nice. Maybe it was just me, but a place like this that gets many customers and visitors shouldn't get away with treating customers like me. Maybe it was just me, hope you have a much...

Last night was absolutely fantastic. This is a favorite of our friends and they asked us to join them. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious, fresh and authentic. By far the best I have had in this area.
On weekends I am told it is busy and you will probably have to wait. Apparently all the regulars know this and it’s so good that it’s not really even an issue. We were lucky enough to find some seats at the bar and enjoy a pitcher of margaritas while we waited. The perfect way to end a Friday night. They don’t seem overly strong but they start to creep up a little on you if you have a few. Our table was ready shortly and we were treated to some complimentary chips and salsa, there was a small charge for refills, but they were delicious and worth it. Thick enough to scoop up the queso and salty. We had to have some queso too and ordered a shrimp ceviche as an app. The queso was creamy and had the right amount of kick. The ceviche was fresh, delicious and tasty. A generous portion and the ratio of ingredients was perfection. For dinner we tried the Birria tacos, and an Al pastor and steak chorizo taco. The Birria was stuffed full of meat and cheese and the consume was the most flavorful I’ve ever had, packed with meat. I was told that the tacos were very good, flavorful and tasty. The steak chorizo was something we had not seen before and was a nice twist on the classic. I have to say all the flavors here were very authentic and what we had wasn’t Americanized.
The menu is huge and has a lot of great offerings. Can’t wait to try more when...
