Anna's Bakery — Restaurant in Town of Clarkstown

Very displeased with the response from the bakery after our cake was ruined following pick up. I was not instructed that the cake needed to be put immediately in the fridge, I picked the cake up on a lunch break at 1:30 and by 4:00 when I returned to my car this is what had happened. The top of the cake had melted (it was not a hot day). I spoke with several bakers after the incident who indicated this should not have happened to the cake and that it was not supported properly for this to have happened. I called the bakery to share this with them and they indicated "We are not responsible for what happens to your cake after it leaves our hands" and "At this time there is nothing we can do for you". Being a repeat customer and having just spent 400$ in their bakery, this was a very upsetting response to receive. I will not be returning to a place that does poor business like this. I found another bakery in New Windsor-Anotonio's Cupcake Factory, who offered to fix the cake and repaired it good as new. First time buying at Anna’s. I bought a cheesecake with a chocolate coating on top and chocolate cake on the bottom. It looked pretty. I heard so many good things about this place and wanted to give it a try, but this cake was not good and it was expensive for 35$. Maybe it was old? It wasn’t what I expected. I brought it to a party, and kinda felt embarrassed. It was hard to slice as the chocolate top layer was so thick and you had to physically break it apart, then the cheesecake itself, I’m not sure what it was made of but it tasted stale, the bottom chocolate cake part was okay, but overall it tasted like it was in the fridge/freezer for some time? I also tried their yellow cake pop cookie dough and it was just all weird tasting, the outside layer was very sugary and hard to bite and there was lots of it before you get to the cookie dough, at which point I didn’t event bother to eat. It didn’t even taste like chocolate, more like food coloring? For almost 5$ I expected more. Their powdered jelly doughnut wasn’t so bad but it did have a weird aftertaste, I can’t describe it but I did finish it. That was at least reasonably...

I ordered a cake for my daughter-in-law's baby shower without having ever tasted anything from Anna's Bakery. I went purely on a recommendation from a friend and the reviews confirmed everything that my friend had to say. Anna's far exceeded my expectations. Not only was the cake stunning, the texture, taste, sweetness (I dont like an overly sweet cake) was absolutely perfect. I live about an hour from the bakery and would not ever hesitate to make the drive again for Anna's cake. It was a two tier naked cake and when I placed the order, they gave me recommendations for filling which would have the best results. I originally wanted cannoli filling throughout, but due to the weight of the filling they recommended that the top tier should have a lighter filling. I went with chocolate mousse.
