Tourist trap!!!! Avoid! The experience can be summed up in three words: overpriced, mediocre, and frustrating. The food is lackluster at best, and the mandatory 20% service tip feels like a slap in the face when you receive such poor service.
If you’re considering dining here, I urge you to think twice. This place is nothing more than a tourist trap, riding on hype that likely comes from paid publicity!! How did they buy so much publicity?! I question if this restaurant is paying for all the articles.
Appetizers: A joke! Bad! The appetizer was a staggering $18 for what amounted to a few wilted lettuce leaves topped with a bland tomato and pepper spread that you could easily find in any supermarket. Charging that much for such a meager offering is nothing short of a joke.
Main Courses: Barely Satisfying! The main courses are equally disappointing. Fried Chicken: What was advertised as fried chicken turned out to be a dry, breaded cutlet and NOT a juice chicken you would expect. The breading fell off with every bite, and the dish lacked any accompanying sides, save for a sprinkle of cabbage and a watery cauliflower sauce that was misleadingly labeled as "cauliflower cream." Short Rib: The short rib was a small portion of decent quality meat, but it was served with an uninspired mix of corn and cheese, topped with a bit of purple cabbage. The limited menu left us feeling unsatisfied; if we hadn’t ordered the bread, we would have left hungry.
Ironically, the bread was the best item we encountered, but at $8, you can find equally delightful options at a local bakery without the accompanying disappointment of the rest of the meal.
Desserts: A Major Disappointment The desserts were perhaps the most egregious part of the meal: $14 Peanut Butter "Mousse": This was far from a mousse; it was simply peanut butter at the bottom of a bowl, topped with peanuts and a few preserved strawberries. It resembled a poor rendition of peanut butter and jelly without the bread. $14 Flourless Chocolate Cake: This was not the high-end dessert you might expect from a reputable restaurant. It tasted like a frozen chocolate block with no texture or flavor whatsoever. It was an embarrassment to the culinary world.
Coffee: NO! They do not have an expresso machine! Let down!!!!!
Service: Inattentive and Uninformed The service was another low point. Our waitress was not only inattentive but also completely unfamiliar with the menu. Despite my husband's attempts to give her the benefit of the doubt, it was clear that her disinterest and bad attitude were not due to inexperience. With a mandatory 20% tip, there seems to be little incentive for her to improve. It raises an important question: how can a restaurant justify keeping such a poor employee when they are rewarded regardless of their performance?
In summary, this restaurant is a perfect example of paid PR over substance. If you value your dining experience, I strongly recommend steering clear of this establishment. There are far better options out there that won’t leave you...

Read moreVisiting from Philly, farm-to-table foodies, we went here after reading a review in the NY Times which was very complimentary. We loved the redo of the old gas station. The bar particularly. The arugula salad had a wonderful, earthy dressing. The house-cured olives were intriguing with anise and nutmeg flavors. Nice Muscadet at a reasonable price. But then things went sideways. My halibut special came out in a bowl! Weird, to say the least. Worst, it was overcooked and dry. SUpposed to be served with roasted cauliflower and there were maybe 6 tiny florets. For a "farm-to-table" there should have been mounds of this. Very skimpy. The service was exceptionally personable, but the bussing of the table left a bit to be desired. Empty bottles and bread basket lingered way too long, cluttering the table. My wife's sirloin steak was executed well. But the real disaster was the desert. We had a flourless chocolate torte that was atrocious. First, the torte itself was almost a solid chunk of mediocre chocolate. Not the velvety smooth slice of heaven we had expected. The worst was, the quenelle of whipped cream was just one step short of butter. Completely overwhipped, with chunks of butterfat, no flavoring, no sugar, just awful. For a $150 dinner, this was not up to par. Not horrible, but they missed...
