The first thing I did was say that I had a coupon for a free shake with a double bbq crunch burger The order taking girl said she didn't recognize that one and sent someone out The girl that came out to get the coupon was someone who had waited on me before so she definitely had taken one of these coupons from me before but she did not admit to this The girl on mic said we will take a computer printed coupon this time but not in the future; we will accept coupons from the paper but not one's printed out on the computer I tried to talk but the girl on the mic kept on talking not giving me a chance to get a word in edgewise So finally I said "Excuse me I am the customer here and I have a right to talk and be heard. I have come here at least 6x (I signed up in July 2016 and it is Oct 2017) with a printed out coupon and I've never had a problem before. I am going to call the A&W natl HQ and complain" The girl on the mic said you can talk to the owner if you are unhappy with this. You can call the store. The store has the right to refuse the online coupons. We accept coupons from the paper I said I would like to speak to the owner now - will you please send them out The girl reiterated that I could call the store if I wanted to talk to the owner May I take your order? She took my order - but never asked me if I wanted it for here or to go!! She said someone will be right out with your order I want to mention here that whenever I have gone to A&W in the past I have always ordered a sandwich, a side and a hot dog for my dog to go with my free drink. A different girl came out with my order than the first time This girl said like she was telling me for the first time that the girl taking orders said to tell me that they will accept the computer printed coupon this time but not in the future. Your total with the coupon is $8.85 I gave her a $10 and told her to keep the change. (Which I really shouldn't have done after being treated like this!!) I said I will not be coming here ever again. I really wish at this time I had had the wherewithal to tell them to take their food and shove it and drive off without the order. But I have acute PTSD and am unable to think on my feet. Plus I really didn't expect the 2nd waitress to come out and tell me a 2nd time that they would accept my computer printed coupon this time but not in the future My dog was so upset by the whole thing she would not even eat her hot dog. And my order came in a "to go" bag like they were saying "please leave!!!" I did not get my tray or my nice mug to drink my shake out of. It was the worst experience I have ever had eating at a restaurant. I have never been treated like this by a restaurant before. And there is no way I will ever eat at this A&W ever again. Perhaps A&W Natl should make the free float day in August a free float with the purchase of a sandwich and a side. I think perhaps this may be the issue with accepting the online A&W coupons. But they could have said we no longer accept online coupons and not acted like this was the first time someone had brought in an online coupon. And it could have been handled in a much better fashion. The girl on the mic should be reprimanded for the way she...
Read moreAbsolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Upon walking into the building the cashier walked away from the register. No one acknowledged us at the counter. At least 4 employees saw us standing there and no one said a word. We waited patiently at the counter when finally another employee asked if we had been helped yet. We advised that we had not and she said she would be right with us. We then stood there for a few more minutes while this employee did not come over to help us. After a few more moments the cashier came back to the counter and proceeded to tell us that we needed to move to the side so she could help other customers. We stepped aside and advised that we had not been taken care of yet. She then apologized, when we went to place the order she asked after starting if we were going to be staying or leaving. We advised staying, she then told us that we had to sit down to place our order. We advised that we would like to place the order at the counter incase we wanted to leave (we had a 4 year old with us). The cashier then started having attitude about it, we asked to have lettuce added to a burger, she advised we could not. We asked if we could have a side of lettuce then. The cashier asked another worker who then advised she needed to ask the cook. The cashier just rolled her eyes and stood there until we advised we would get it without lettuce. After sitting to wait for our food we could over hear the workers talking negatively about us. Making comments about how they were not going to get a tip, and how they couldn’t control us sitting down at a table. This is something that we do every time we come and have always left a tip. Regardless if we do or not the poor customer service and comments were certainly not necessary.
Upon asking to speak to a manager, the manager advised his worker that he was to busy to come to the counter to speak...
Read moreI've been going to this particular A&W since I was in high school back in the 60s. I used to love it. I could again very easily. However there are a few things that have changed significantly that have caused me to become disappointed in most recent visits during the last year. My last visit was in August of 2023. I almost always dine in. However the temperature inside is always freezing. Many diners put their sweatshirts or sweaters on if they have one with them once they are inside. Some locals who are in the know arrive with warm jackets and sweaters or other warm clothing. It's so cold in the A &W dining room that the food, if it's not already room temperature when it's served (as the hot dogs are) it soon will be. Second, the menu is extremely limited and portions have gotten smaller as the prices have gone up. I guess that's happening at most restaurants these days. Also, I used to love their steamed hot dogs and steamed rolls. They were hot when they were served. Not any more. The rolls are cold and not very soft or moist. The hot dogs are room temperature by the time you take a bite. Always. I love the phone system for ordering one's food; it's half the fun of the experience. However, now it's really hard to hear the person taking the order. The sound system on the phones needs work. It's really loud in the dining room with talking, music and perhaps the a/c. For me what used to be a unique experience has turned into a chore to eat as quickly as possible and get out to warm up. That being said, it wouldn't take much to bring back the old charm. Maybe they could offer an incentive of some kind to patrons to fill out a very brief satisfaction survey at the end of their meal. Perhaps the car service is still the same as always. I will try that again with an open mind. I still love the old A & W, the old "carhop" service. Hope that...
