I came in for lunch with an old friend, whom I had not seen in over a year. The café was relatively steady (not too busy, not too slow) when we sat down around 11:40. We got coffee with was okay, and lunch as we caught up and chatted. We got our bills and paid; despite being rushed, we were not yet done. We had been seated for an hour and 15 minutes, at most; when the owner came to our table and told us we had “been here for a very long time” and that “others needed to be seated” and she was “going to have to ask us to leave”. Now, as someone who has worked in the food service industry for over 2 years, my parents also being in the food service industry for over 30 years, I would know the appropriate way in which to handle this. To start, Blue Bee does not take reservations; therefore in order to get a table, you must show up early enough to get one, which is what we did. I have never in my life, been asked so rudely to leave an establishment. I was flabbergasted. Unless we were being rude to the staff (which we were absolutely not) or somehow causing a disturbance within the building, you should never ask paying customers to leave your establishment. period. Now, if we had been there for 2 hours or any longer, I would’ve completely understood. However, we had not been there for even and hour and a half, until were were told to leave. I am incredibly disappointed and disgusted by this interaction. Absolutely disgraceful and such a shame. You just lost 2 regular customers, along with our entire families and friends.
update for owner:
I have screenshots of the time in which we stayed. From the time we entered the cafe at 11:34 and i arrived home at 1:32 pm. Not to mention the fact that my friend and I sat in my car for another 30 minutes talking about the situation. I do not appreciate the insinuation of me fabricating the story to fit your narrative. The fact of the matter is, it’s one thing to politely ask us to wrap it up because you need to seat other people due to your lack of seating and the fact that reservations are not necessary. It’s an entirely different thing to forge a false statement of what actually happened and place the blame on the party who is completely blameless in...
Read moreCame here with my SO on a Saturday and due to the covid we had to wait outside for a couple minutes... but it was worth it. As we waited the people in front of us told us of the excellent desserts (which we did have, but more on that later). When we went in, the place was warm and inviting with zero pretentiousness (a common problem with college towns).. The young waitress (forgot her name) that seated us was very nice and was more then willing to answer our questions about the menu. My SO ordered a coffee and it was large and she said it was good (not great, but she had two cups). My ice chai latte was very good... a look around the cafe and they have plenty of desserts on display as well as the open kitchen area.. the place was very clean and properly designed... I ordered the two waffles with sweetened butter and pecans with real maple syrup. The best I've ever had. Light and fluffy that melted in my mouth, definitely not prepackaged batter . SO ordered the roast beef sandwich, with a side of kale salad... loved it all... the rb was cooked medium and the swiss cheese was good quality as well as the bread was also high quality. I tried the Kale salad (basically kale and garlic) and it was great... then came desert me and my SO split a cinnamon scone and a peanut butter cookie... both were homemade and very tasty... the peanut butter was not too dry (can happen because it will dry out the cookie) I was concerned when I saw the scone had course sugar baked over the top that it would be too sweet, but it wasn't... everything was great and the total bill was under 40$ ......
Read moreWhile this cafe had good food and an appealing atmosphere, the service was not up to par. I came here with my boyfriend. Our waiter seemed extremely frantic and she forgot to bring us our coffees but was kind enough to admit her mistakes without us having to comment, which takes a lot for a person to own up to. She barley checked on us which is not welcoming at all. I ordered the pecan waffles. When I received them there was no pecans to be found on my dish anywhere. I flagged down a waiter (who was not ours) and she seemed bothered that I wanted pecans, yet after all i did order the pecan pancakes? The cook preparing the food seemed puzzled about the pecan matter yet thats what I ordered and it was certainly on the menu. I received raw pecans when expecting glazed ones because that is normally what would go with waffles or pancakes. I asked for syrup only to be told there was no syrup left and I could not have any. Excuse me, I am your customer and you're telling me that I can't have syrup on an item that clearly requires it? Is this not a cafe with primarily breakfast items including waffles and pancakes on the menu? how can you not have any more syrup in the house when you have items that require it? She gave me some honey. While the waffles themselves had good flavor the taste of raw pecans and honey was not appealing. My boyfriend ordered the bacon apple cheddar crepe and it was very good and the flavor profile was spot on. Would probably go here again and give it a second shot but was not happy about the whole...
