Last week we went to the Hollow Restaurant for the first time. Since we hadn’t been there before, we ended up ordering a large selection from the menu just to have tastes. Literally everything was not only delicious and satisfying but complex and interesting as well. We rarely go out to dinner and since my girlfriend is a high-end professional chef, we always have to travel from one to three hours to find something interesting enough to make it worth the trip, so we were especially delighted to find a place so close to home of such high quality and were amazed we were hadn’t found it earlier. The service was uncommonly warm and attentive and the décor elegant and very much in harmony with the cuisine.
I’ve also been going to the café for breakfast and lunch on a regular basis which has been equally a real pleasure. The breakfast pastries and croissants and the lunch sandwiches are of a quality one simply doesn’t expect to find in this particular corner of the world, and the ambience for my tastes is just what I look for in a café – a perfect place to sit, have a cappuccino, and write.
Very highly recommended for both...
Read moreBeen coming to hollow since we moved to the area last year. I enjoy the atmosphere and the food but the prices are very very high for what you get in terms of quality and quantity.
We paid $13 for butter bean dip that came with just 5 endive leaves, which we had to order another $5 for bread.
$26 for a chicken and rice plate and another $26 for a tofu curry, both of which were good, but not justifiable to be $26 based on execution or ingredients. There was probably less than a chicken thigh worth of meat and the amount of tofu in the curry makes a miso soup feel like a minestrone! The rice was also clumped and mushy.
Dessert and wine were great and priced correctly.
If you’re going to shell out $26 for a main, save your money and try out the other delicious restaurants in town that will give you better execution and more ingredients...
Read moreHollow is such a fabulous spot—cool, cozy, and with a small menu packed with excellently crafted dishes. We’re lucky to have a place with big-city quality right here in our small town.
I was visiting a friend, and let me get straight to the point: the food during happy hour was incredible. The potatoes, fried in duck fat with perfect seasoning, were out of this world. The pot de crème dish was another highlight—intense, flavorful, and simply delicious. We ended up making a full dinner out of several appetizers, and each bite was more amazing than the last.
The ambiance was so pleasant, and the atmosphere really captures the essence of a great gastro pub. Friendly locals, a diverse crowd, and welcoming servers made the experience even better. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait...
