Oar House — Restaurant in Town of Dix

After doing the Watkins Glen State Park hike we searched for the top rated restaurants in the area and stumbled upon this local hidden gem. This place will not disappoint you, it certainly exceeded our expectations. Firstly the service and atmosphere was very welcoming as soon as we stepped in, even the owner even came up to us to chat. Additionally it is right next to a marina in a very tranquil area! Secondly the food was delicious and great quality. We got the burger and the reuben sandwich and we were left without words. The corn beef was so nice and tender, it was without a doubt the best reuben sandwich that I have ever had. The fries and macaroni salad were delicious as well. I’m honestly really confused by all of the 5 star reviews. The service and atmosphere were great - I did not expect this restaurant to be both frog and Christmas-themed but I thought it was a lot of fun. However, I ordered the Bloody Mary because of other reviews that mentioned they were amazing and it wasn’t good at all, and I wasn’t impressed by the food either. Nothing tasted bad, but I don’t think the prices matched the quality and flavor. This is a definite locals place. The girl came out from the bar said you're new. I'm not busy so I'll get your drinks but if you want food or more drinks you have to come to the bar. Cook brought the food out, decent burgers and fries. You do all the running but she expects a tip. It's next to a small marina alot of signs and lawn ornaments. Parking lot looks like some kinda company its basically a garage. Call me weird but I think if you're serving food someone should come...
