Yes they also have the OG amagansett location - but maybe you’re driving out east, stuck in traffic and get hungry! Who can wait til they hit amagansett?! Must also order their jalapeño margarita that I unfortunately couldn’t try but hear its a 10/10. We had a great experience @lunchlobsterroll and I’d say it’s one of the best lobster rolls in the hamptons. #NYCDATENITE

I wish I’d taken pics of my food, but I was so excited to actually eat something on vacation- aside from pizza 🍕!! (Though Mystic Pizza? I’d have eaten that EVERY DAY… but I digress!) Anyhoo, vacations are not usually something that involve me being able to eat very much, as I’m ALLERGIC TO FISH AND SHELLFISH 🦐!! This was something that developed in my early 30’s, so unfortunately for me, I’d known seafood intimately, and we had a wonderful relationship. 😍 Imagine my surprise when I go to a seafood restaurant and blow up like, well, you get it. Anyway, I was excited for my husband to eat at The Lobster Roll, as we’d been fans of The Affair!! (At least the first 4 seasons, but don’t get me started there…) Anyway, we went after Labor Day in late September! The weather couldn’t have been any more beautiful. We had a 45 minute wait that was actually more like 20 minutes. The server was excellent and super sweet. She came over to get our orders, and I told her “I’ll just have a Diet Coke— I can’t eat at seafood restaurants because of possible cross contamination, as I'm allergic.” It’s something I’m used to saying, and I’ll usually try a dessert if I feel safe, or maybe some crackers. Well… you cannot imagine the excitement I felt when the server told me they had a gluten free fryer!!! So that means that I could eat some chicken tenders as well as ACTUAL FRENCH FRIES!! (Most places fry their fish with EVERYTHING… it’s so depressing. Im lookin’ at you, Cheesecake Factory and every Mexican/Chinese restaurant..ever. 😭😭😭😭 I MISS IT SO MUCH!!) so the designated GF fryer could be used for my fries, and I could eat GF chicken tenders! My husband ordered a LR, of course, and he loved his. For the first time since being diagnosed, I was able to comfortably eat something fried, and it’s couldn’t have been better!!! I asked for ranch, and it was def homemade, which makes life SO MUCH BETTER. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I even loved the GF chicken tenders!! I’m obv chatty, but this review is prolly the longest I’ve ever written…sorry for being long-winded, I just can’t say enough good things!! We wanted to get something like “Cherry’s Pies” when we left, but we settled on an Oreo (cookies & cream?) cupcake, which was huge and delicious 🤤. My husband has a beer, so all in all, I think our bill was $60, so $75 after tip.) That’s expensive where we come from, but if we lived near them, we’d be eating there weekly. Thank you so much Lobster Roll… you’ve officially made this girl the happiest I’ve been at a restaurant on vacay (and even home!) in 8ish years. I love you forever. ♥️♥️♥️ If you’re planning on taking a trip, make SURE you go to TLR. They are the BEST.

This place has outdoor seating available and we were seated immediately. Dined around 7pm and it was fairly busy, about 75% full. A lot of young kids eating here. Had a table of 6 guys next to us, all in their early 20s, talking and yelling very loudly about if they would rather marry Lady Gaga or Ariana Grande. On the other side of our table had 8 young people also very loud and drinking quite a bit. Back two tables were also filled with large groups of loud kids. All fine and well but just to note this was not the best place for a date night, was very loud and difficult to talk and would be a better option for friends or family meeting for dinner. The food was expensive and not exactly worth it. The clam chowder was good but not great. It did had a lot of clams but several sandy bites. The crab cakes were not good, odd seasonings, and one was burnt on the bottom. The coleslaw was OK but plain, very light vinegar dressing and no carrots. Cold lobster roll was pretty good, lots of lobster but was dry and needed more mayo. French fries were typical frozen crinkle cut. Corn on the cob was overcooked and came with no butter, had to ask for packets. Dessert was very good. Had the frozen key lime and the warm chocolate cake, both were excellent. Service was not great here. Initially was brought the wrong soup. Took the soup back and brought the correct soup and after 2 bites, here is the entrees. The food got cold as we ate our soup. We asked for a dessert menu and 15 minutes later we got it. Took forever for her to take our order and bring the desserts. Waited 40 minutes from the time we told her we wanted dessert till we finally got it. Getting the check was another hassle. I didn't feel like it was busy enough that we should of had to wait so long for service. If you're a young person that likes to drink and order chicken fingers, I think this is your place and you'll make lots of new friends. Otherwise, steer clear. There are comparable or better lobster rolls and desserts (the only two redeeming things) at other restaurants.

The Lobster Roll is located as a single restaurant, standing alone amidst dune vegetation and found on the side of the Montauk Highway between two beachside communities. It has a gluten free menu that a lot of seafood restaurants of their type don't have. This makes The Lobster Roll a special place to me. The menu had many different types of seafood. One of the selections was a gluten-free lobster roll. It came with coleslaw and french fries, and the GF roll was toasted perfectly. The lobster was presoaked in melted butter and was delicious. Usually, though, the lobster is a bit more difficult to chew, this lobster easily fell apart when biting down. Another interesting addition to the menu was the "Montaukila." It was a margarita-like drink that featured a locally created tequila. It was smooth and didn't have that smoky aftertaste that can cause someone to cough. The atmosphere was festive, with a touch of the upscale aesthetic expected of a place near "the Hamptons." The cost of a lobster dinner for two and two drinks hovered around $100 before tip. Service was excellent. Foe those interested in supporting business who have a mind for green and sustainable practice, our drinks were straw-free. Plastic serving cups were used for the coleslaw, paper for the fries, and ceramic for everything lobster related. It did not seem like there were solar or wind energy setups anywhere, but the business seemed to be a great place to get some of there power from it. Three stars for their ecoinnovation.

If you like seafood right before arriving to Montauk this a nice stop location with a great menu selection. I was really looking forward to this location since they’re iconic for their lobster rolls. We had this incredible buffalo ranch calamari appetizer, omg it’s the best of the best! The Brooklyn Summer Ale beer on tap was nice and cold & the lobster rolls were mouthwatering deliciousness. We ordered the cold and hot lobster rolls, to try both and let me tell you the hot lobster roll is the way to go, highly recommended it. In the waiting area outside there is a window to buy drinks from the bar, which I thought was a great idea and convenient so while you wait, you can have a drink in the hot weather. Some cons unfortunately for this location are that now in the summer its very very busy, there’s limited bathrooms and seating at times when everyone arrives. if you’re a couple there is no seating outside for you most of the time and they don’t tell you but they play it off and have you sit you by the bar, I caught couples’ pattern, which was very disappointing but you can’t have everything in life, they got lucky I like the bar since the service was excellent. I will definitely come back to the spot and get a hot lobster roll, some beers and that incredible amazing buffalo Ranch calamari, oh my God I’m still thinking about it. Just because of the food & service they make up for the cons.

The cold lobster roll had too much celery. Maybe I should have ordered the hot one. The Carnation milk-based broth in the New England clam chowder overpowered the freshly-chucked clams. The corn on the cob was soggy and overcooked. I paid $47 including tax for the three plus a glass of club soda. What a waste of money! I should have done a Google search under “Best lobster roll in the Hamptons” before coming here. There are many businesses in the Hamptons that consumers say have “best lobster roll”. A few longtime Hamptons homeowners tell me that locals prefer “The Dock House”in Sag Harbor. Some other Hamptonites tell me that”Bostwick’s Chowder House” in East Hampton has the best lobster rolls in town. I personally buy mine from Stew Leonard’s supermarket in Farmingdale or the local fish store. But the best lobster roll is the one that you can make at home yourself, for far less $$$.
