The Grill at RUSCHMEYERS — Restaurant in Town of East Hampton

My friends and I had a very disappointing experience at Ruschmeyers this year. We had a dinner reservation booked for the weekend we were in town, but purchased last minute Surf Lodge tickets that would interfere with the reservation. We decided to come for drinks the night before instead as we always have loved Ruschmeyers and would make a point to come here every year for the past 7 years during our annual girls trip. We requested to cancel our reservation when we came in for drinks and we were assured it would be cancelled with no fee. However I was charged a large fee the following day. Upon calling and emailing the restaurant, Berton refused to reimburse the fee. It’s sad that Ruschmeyers cares more about squeezing every penny out of their customers than they do about client retention and longevity. The bouncers are extremely aggressive to the dinner guests. I tried to check in with my waiter and two bouncers started pressing me “if I made a reservation.” For their information, yes I made a reservation and I’m seated at a table. I’m walking over to speak with a waiter about a chicken dish that was “given to a different table” that was 1 hour late!

Dinner was incredible. I got the grilled monkfish and the charred beets as a side and both were exceptional. Service was attentive without being overbearing and the atmosphere was 11/10. Nothing like Montauk during the summer....
