I really hope this was an off night for them. We picked this place for dinner because it was close to our Airbnb and listed as "not busy" on Google maps. We walked in, two employees were up front taking turns on the computer and neither of them looked up to greet us, or tell us to hold for a few minutes, or anything. They just walked away and continued about their day. I saw an employee in the side room and asked if there was a host/hostess and they said they would take my name and it would be a few minutes to be seated. The restaurant did not look busy, there appeared to be plenty of staff, yet nothing was moving. It took over a half hour to sit, we knew what we wanted and ordered right away. While we were waiting for our drinks, other tables were complaining about the wait. Our waitress disappeared (they literally said they couldn't find her) and then she appeared at our table about thirty minutes after we ordered and said my pizza was not available and had me pick something else. They gave us mini hot cocoa cups while we waited which was sweet. The pizza came out a little under cooked, my friends veggie pasta was supposed to have brussel sprouts but it came out with mushrooms. She's not a fan so she gave them to me to add to my pizza. The other dishes were okay.
All this to say, I hope it was just an off night. The views are pretty, especially lit up at night. The bar was a nice size and seemed well stocked. I wouldn't be against trying it again at some point, but I wouldn't seek out a visit here based...
Read moreBusiness seemed to be slow, not too overcrowded for a 1:30pm lunch. Nevertheless, we waited 30 minutes for a table that was empty when we got there. Waiter took our order of a salad, a wrap, a pizza, and a burger. We proceeded to wait for an hour with no food or any updates from the server. A table next to us sat down, ate, and left all while we were still waiting. Eventually we asked another server (ours was nowhere to be seen) if we could get an update on our food. He never came back. We asked the hostess where the food was, she said she would check. 15 minutes later, the food finally arrived. For an hour and 15 minute wait for bar food, shouldn’t the food have been outstanding? No. The food was fine I guess, but the Buffalo chicken wrap was bad. The fried chicken wasn’t actually tossed with the Buffalo sauce, so you had dry chicken on the top and pure hot sauce on the bottom, which ruined the wrap for me. What really baffled me was their excuse for the late food: apparently the chef quit mid-shift. I don’t really buy that story, shouldn’t they have another chef who can make the food? If not they should have let us know they couldn’t produce the items that we ordered and we could have left earlier. They probably just made that up when they forgot our order and didn’t work on it until we asked about it. In conclusion, service was terrible, and food was definitely not worth the 1:15 wait. Read moreTerrible. We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past but something has changed in past 3 years. Is it really that hard to accommodate a simple request? I ordered a steak and asked if they could give me a side of rice instead of the standard sides. This rice was part of another dish so should have been readily available in the kitchen. After checking with the kitchen I was informed no, I must order one of the side dishes they have on the menu. Well guess what, I am not a 10 year old who wants to eat French fries with my steak. Get some actual adult side dishes on your menu or go ahead and change your sign out front to a big mouse giving the thumbs up. Had to settle on a side salad as my side dish. Let me give you some hints on what good restaurants do. Provide a side salad in addition to the main course, which in the case of a steak should have options of baked potato (which you don't have), vegetables, rice, etc. Now to the steak....who is in the back doing the cooking? Do they understand the difference between medium-rare and well done? I'll answer this one, they do not. We had two of the steaks ordered at our table and both came out well done. This restaurant has become amateur to say the least and for the $140 bill there are much better options in Ellicotville. Rip off. I would have been better off at the truck...
