When we first arrived it was relatively dark and colder then I would have liked. Granted we were the second customers there, but I'm the old fashioned turn on your lights and turn up your heat prior to opening kind of guy. With that said, as more people arrived they slowly turned lifhts on and after enough hot sauce I did not realize I was cold.
As another review stated, the food was "too fast" coming to the table. To play devil's advocate here, there is no reason it shouldn't. In all establishments items such as refried beans and rice are pre-made and heated to order. Do you really think a full service restaurant, even a moderately busy one boils rice to order. To take it a step further in Mexican restaurants many items are done this way. This doesn't mean they're not fresh or sub standard. Also, yes some items are a bit salty. On a better note however I like that all dishes are served on heated plates.
As for the service I'm unsure. The waitress was fast and considerate, but either depressed or void of any personality whatsoever. At least none that I noticed.
Lastly the decor was more cheesy then Mexican, but not everyone cares about this. I have just become picky and notice to much after reviewing so many places. All in all it's good food at a good price, but it won't...
Read moreMy fiance brought me to the restaurant for my birthday. It was crowded, and we did have to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated. This was not a problem. We knew that this was going to be the case. The decor is pretty standard as far as Mexican restaurants go. The environment was clean and accommodating. The staff was very friendly. There is a cart with chips and salsa constantly being circulated through the dining area. The Waitresses are constantly on top of bringing refills. There is a group of waitresses that are constantly circulating the floor and they all wait every table. The food was fresh and very tasty. My fiance ordered a molcajete, and it sizzled through the entire meal. It was really cool to see. Everything was worth the wait, and we will be returning. It has been my fiance's favorite local restaurant for many years and that will not be changing. We had two appetizers and two of the most expensive meals. Even with a gratuitous tip, it was a hair over $60. Well worth it. The restaurant is handicap-accessible and there are vegan and vegetarian substitutions available. The menu is also available online. Go to the actual website as opposed to the preview on...
Read moreMy wife and I came here on a Saturday night. It didn't appear that busy, as the parking lot was about a third full. We are greeted my a young man who appeared to be in his late twenties. He asked us how many and for our name. He then walked away without saying anything. I assumed he was checking to see where he would seat us. After a three minutes of not returning I poked my head around the corner to ask him if there was a wait. He responded that there was. I asked him why he didn't tell us there was a wait and how long the wait would be. He didn't say a single word. My wife and I walked out the door and left. Now maybe I missed something, but if there's a wait at a restaurant isn't it typical to specifically say so to the customer and let them know how long the wait is. The greeter is the first person you see at a sit-down restaurant. I don't think this person should be that individual. I don't give my business to places that take it for granted, which is what I felt was going to...
