For breakfast and lunch, this place has always been a cut above everything around. Best bacon egg and cheese I've ever had and we lived in NYC for 22 years. The mortadella sandwich is also fantastic. We love their grab and go items, too. They recently started dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and the food is incredible. We especially love the Korean wings and the crab dip. Only two small complaints: 1) since they started doing dinner, they no longer do breakfast fri/sat (as of the time I'm writing this) and we definitely miss that--- especially on Saturday mornings. 2) There could probably be a bit more done for the atmosphere to transform the space in the evenings to make it feel cozier. It still feels very much like a daytime cafe. Simple things with lighting and perhaps some sort of curtain or partition to obscure the counter- service feel. Regardless, we love, love, love The Disgruntled Chef and are so glad they're a part of our...

I have been to the disgruntled chef many times for breakfast and lunch to pick up a sandwich, salad, or some baked goods. For the first time, I decided to stop in for dinner and wow it did not disappoint. For our appetizer, we ordered the whipped ricotta, fig mostrada, Cippoloni onion, and mint as well as the Hot Crab Dip with Old Bay Shrimp Crackers. Both of these were very good and you could tell they were made with quality ingredients and care. For our main, we ordered Seared Cod, Peewee Potatoes, Chickpeas, Sweet Onions, Lemon & Herb Sauce, and the brand new Bavette Steak, Duck Fat Potatoes, Broccoli Cheddar Purée, Horseradish (I was the first one to order the new dish). The two entrées were absolutely delicious with the new stake dish being a highlight for me. I would recommend stop by to try their dinner this will be one of our go-to spots after hiking or cycling on the mountain...

A fantastic restaurant in a little town. Food is consistently delicious! We had 2 items the chef just put on the menu- pork belly sliders and the cavatelli pasta with mushrooms and a perfectly poached duck egg.

The sliders were out of this world yummy and a bigger than expected for a “small plate”. Pasta was cooked perfectly.

Also got the Korean Chicken Wings which could be classified as pterodactyl wings, they’re that big. Tender inside and crispy outside just the way wings should be. The sauce is so good.

Save space for the butterscotch pudding over a hazelnut brownie. The pudding is light and airy, more like a custard. It’s got just the right sweetness, which is not like box pudding mix.

What we had was for dinner which is only on the...

I have picked up sandwiches from here a handful of times and couldn’t have been more pleased. Today I accidentally came thinking to have a late lunch not realizing they have a dinner menu. Let me tell you, my husband and I are not easily impressed. City food snobs living upstate doesn’t give us much to be excited about. But this meal will live inside my memory to only be replaced by future visits! The only conversation was repeatedly confirming how incredible the food is. I wish I had the forethought to take pictures of my food beforehand. But to say our plates were wiped clean would be honest.

It was refreshing to find this restaurant. The dinner menu has quite a variety of mixed fare. From Asian fusion to American classic smash burger. I tried the Artichoke Risotto. The blend of parmesan, bearnaise sauce and mascarpone are well balanced. The added lemon crumbs and garnish give it texture. The only thing I would recommend is to add more Risotto. I felt it was not thick enough, but that could be a personal preference. The Sticky Bun Bread Pudding is must as as well. The tentative service and cafe vibe add to the experience.
