Today was about the fifth time i ordered Uber Eats from Taj Mahal, and let me say, I'm a H U G E fan. Even though I get delivery (you know UE usually takes forever & it's cold when it arrives, Taj's is always steaming hot and super fresh. Very affordable prices, especially considering the enormous portions you get. This time I ordered the mango Curry chicken (they send one if those black large Chinese take out containers for the chicken alone, with a huge bowl of white rice OTS). Super juicy, a little sweet & spicy. I also got a few kulfi, they don't give you an option on flavor. They weren't made in house, but tasty all the same. (They sent me pistachio flavor, my only complaint was that they left it in the bag with the hot food & it was very melty.) Chicken samosas, (hot a crispy, maybe a tiny bit dry, but they included 2 dipping sauces.) And a mango Lassi (like a yogurt drink. It was pretty sweet; which is fine by me. I love sweet stuff, but if you were looking for something a little sharper and more yoghurty, I may try a different flavor.) It was still delicious though. And the true star of the meal, the peshwari Naan. It's like a flat bread with golden raisins and almonds. I don't usually raisins but it was literally to die for. Hot, flaky, a little crunchy in all the right places, with a subtle sweetness. To die for. I order just for that haha. And all this for under $30. I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI accidentally gave this one star before writing this reviewāplease disregard!! When we first passed by this restaurant we were skeptical. An Indian restaurant in an old strip mall in Gates? We stopped in to get a takeout menu and the first thing I noticed was how impeccably clean the restaurant was! I mean pristine. This is a very good first impression! Unfortunately they didnāt have any takeout menus, so we checked the menu on line. We liked what we saw and decided to dine in tonight. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable of the menu, professional yet very friendly. The food was absolutely deliciousāI had Chicken Xacutti , my husband had Beef Kadai. The entrees were served with a huge dish of basmati rice. We also had Tandoor Naan. The chicken and beef were fork tender; the naan buttery and warm, perfect for dipping into our sauces. This is our new go-to Indian restaurant. Whether you live on the east or west side of the city (we west sliders have been coming to the east side for years for Indian!) this is a place you MUST try! One thing you should be aware of: the beef and seafood dishes do not appear online (Taj Mahal, you may want to change that!). They...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe decided to try this place after reading some good reviews. But it turned out to be the most disappointing Indian food experience in all of Rochester. The following were the dishes we ordered and our review for each:
Vegetable momos: stale and chewy, although full points for chutney Vegetable chowmein: lacked flavour and unnecessary addition of boiled chana. But probably the most tolerable dish Garlic naan: undercooked with dough showing through which was served 10 minutes before subjis arrived only for it to sit and get cold Baingan bhartha: subpar flavour, peas have no business in this subji Subji panchrangi: This was carelessly put together with big and chunky vegetable pieces that was difficult to scoop with naan and eat.
Moreover, the table of 5 that we were seated at barely had space to keep all the dishes we ordered. I would not recommend this place unless they make some drastic change in their...
