Would NOT recommend. I ordered a regular cheesesteak and selected the option to pay for 'extra cheese'. I assumed it would be with cheese whiz because all over the website and the store and inside the store they have signs saying 'AUTHENTIC PHILLY CHEESESTEAKS' and there was a cute joke about needing 5 napkins when you eat one of their sandwiches because of how messy it will be. I also assumed it would be cheese whiz because it didn't ask what kind of cheese I wanted and also because they offered Fries&Whiz as a side.
Anyway, picked up our food. When I opened my sandwich I thought they made a mistake. It just looked like ground beef and nothing else on it. I peeled it back further and saw what appeared to be american cheese. Ok fine. Not what I was hoping for but whatever. But for someone who paid extra money for extra cheese.... what I saw looked like it would be HALF the amount of regular cheese for a sandwich.
I also ordered the sandwich toasted. This didnt happen either, which is fine, whatever. The roll wasn't fresh at all. Literally the driest thing I've ever seen. I took about 3 bites and threw it out. I wish I could get...
Read moreWhat can I say? This is my first visit, but over a hundred and fifty great reviews already brag about how amazing this place obviously is.
Atmosphere is cozy American sit-down/take-out. There are framed tees on the walls from both Pat's Steaks and Geno's Steaks, a la Philadelphia.
Order at the big window with the friendly, smiling counter people. Pay at the little counter. Cash or credit flies here.
I ordered a large Philly Classic with American cheese, mushrooms, onions, green bell peppers and (Rochestarian style yo) meat sauce, which is prepared on the grill to order from ground beef. I as per the sign on the wall, "Ask for steak to be cooked in steak butter for extra flavor!"
And I got regular fries. They come salted just right to my taste, cooked fresh to order, in clean but still tasty grease. I think there is onion powder in the salt too and the fries are awesome as-is.
The steak sandwich is almost too big to lift. It has a great vibe. It has a great "eat me!" vibe. And I will.
Peace &...

Staff were friendly, plenty of seating to eat in or take out. Enough parking available although you may have to go behind the building. It's seems like a locally owned/operated type place not a chain. Prices were reasonable and the preparation was as timely as one can expect for a fresh-grilled hot sandwich.
What really stood out to me was the variety of toppings that were available, particularly having many different sauces and even different types of peppers to choose from. Fries came with a little seasoning on them, and I think there was vinegar available as well as ketchup - nice to see the little touches of details even though it's not a "gourmet" restaurant.
I'll definitely be visiting again for a meaty...
