This place has potential. Great view. One of the best for sunset watching.
First let me put out two warnings that do not effect the review. These things you should know before you go there.
Warning one: The parking lot is a gravel/cinder/sand mixture. wear open toe and sandal type shoes at your own risk.
Warning two: Be careful where you park. especially when you are near the time of a sunset. People will park you in or back into you if you are not careful of drivers who are watching the sunset instead of careful driving. (I saw someone quite upset with a driver side dent from someone he said drove off.)
Warning Three: The menus are online. So if you have eye problems or are technically challenged call before hand to see if they have printable menus.
Let me state one more time the views are breath taking especially on a calm night like tonight.
We had five guests in our party. Two tried to order Iced Tea but they didn't have it. (No deduction for this just an FYI).
Appetizer: Nachos. Actually good. The cheese sauce was a neutral more Béchamel flavor than nacho. Though cheese was in there. Good and neutral for those that like nachos but not the "heat". This was improved for me by the fresh tomatoes onions, greens and fresh jalapeno slices that allowed you to basically mix your own heat and flavor.
The food; Lago Caesar's salad with Kale: For me the kale would have ruined it, but my sister in law liked it enough.
Carnitas Tacos: The food around the pork was delicious. Nicely placed and flavors complemented well. The pork was disappointingly dry for my sister. She left one taco untouched. I tried this and I agreed with her assessment.
Wild Mushroom and Short Rib Risotto: My other sister had this and stated she loved it. But she only ate about a third of it. I was not able to try it nor willing.
Birria Tacos: My brother and sister in law each had this. They stated it tasted good.
Jerk Salmon: Coconut rice with steamed kale and The salmon. Salmon for me is a good judge of skill. It has to be done just right. a slight flakey but smooth almost melt in your mouth texture. The salmon was almost perfect here.
But it was ruined by salt. Not a little but a lot of salt. so much so it ruined the flavor of the salmon. The kale underneath it tasted like wilted brine too. The coconut rice was textured well but bland.
The final price including a 20% of $36 was just over $216. For that price all the food should have been near perfect. Excuses for less stop at the fast food/diner level.
The service was constant and good. Never did we need to ask for a refill or wait for plates to be cleared. All in all very good service experience.
I do not recommend the place for fancy food and I will not be back unless family or friends insist on going back.
Maybe in a year or two I...
Read moreWent here with my 2 sons for my birthday last night and reserved a "Fire table" so we could watch the sun set. They made me feel the opposite of special.
The sunset was the best part of the dinner... everything we ordered took over 30 minutes to appear individually, including a cup of coffee. We were served appetizers with no Flatbread or silverware.
It took so long to get silverware that one of the apps, octopus, had to be sent back and remade. That second plate of octopus came out REAL FAST, then our waitress went back to slacking.
I asked where the sweet potato Flatbread for the mezze appetizer was... she said, "oh, we're out of it." We should have been told that prior to being served. We had spreads and nothing to spread them on!
After asking for the fire to be lit, we were told that the firepit had no propane, so we froze our a$$es off. I should have been told there was no fire when I called about the reservation.
It took an hour for my son to get a cocktail he ordered. An HOUR. Excuses. "The bar is backed up." "There's a table of 16 inside." After asking for a box, my unfinished nachos (which came warm, not hot) sat in the middle of the table so long that bugs got into it and I no longer wanted to take it home.
The waitress gave me lots of excuses and apologies, especially on how long it supposedly took for the coffee machine to brew a cup of coffee. I asked her how long it takes to get a box.
When she finally brought out my second cup of coffee, I stuck my finger in it to see if my theory that she just wasn't bringing them out was correct. She actually let out a little scream. The coffee was warm, not hot. She said, "but the mug is warm." Not sure how that was supposed to help. I was literally freezing at their fire table with no fire, even with my hoodie on. They comped THE COFFEE. Still charged me for the nachos!
This was my third time eating here, and my last. I'm gluten-free, but this lack of consideration and service was just too much. Drove an hour for this! My son, normally quite generous, was treating for my birthday, and I had to talk him into...
Read moreLast weekend, my family and I decided to dine at Lago 210 in Hamburg, a charming spot known for its inviting ambiance and delightful menu. Despite the chilly weather, we opted to sit outside due to the limited seating available indoors. This decision turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as the night was unexpectedly beautiful, enhancing our dining experience.
It's worth noting that Lago 210, like many establishments in the food service industry currently, is facing staffing challenges. This was evident in the somewhat limited menu options available that evening. However, this minor setback didn't dampen our spirits or our appetite.
The food, when it arrived, was a pleasant surprise. Each dish was well-prepared, flavorful, and presented beautifully, showcasing the culinary skills of the kitchen despite their limited staff. The drinks, too, were a hit – expertly mixed and the perfect complement to our meals.
Adding to the ambiance was the live music. The performance was lively and enjoyable, creating a perfect backdrop for our family dinner. It's these little touches that can turn a simple meal out into a memorable experience.
Overall, our time at Lago 210 was enjoyable. It's heartening to see local businesses persevere and continue to provide quality service in these challenging times. We look forward to our next visit, hopefully with a full staff and a full menu to match the full range of their culinary...
