Point Lookout Deli & Caterers — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

This is a review for my catering order I cannot say enough good things about PLD, their staff and their food. This is my second catering order, this time for a very large crowd celebrating my son's first birthday (100p). Everyone was blown away. PLD offers soup to nuts across their menu and services and covers all the bases with special diets and age groups. The portions are extremely generous and tasty. We served salad, on-site grill service with the works (meats and veggies) HUGE HIT, an assortment of heroes, pasta and potato salads, and hot entrees for kids. Chris, Rob and team are not only professional, but highly responsive and accommodating to all of our needs - offering extra tables and tents in a pinch when it's mid-summer and you may face inclement weather! I've been here three times. The first time I bought a cheese salad. I had never had this so was interested to try it. When I got it home, I found that the bottom of the salad was covered in mold. I called and they let me return it. That was my second visit. The man working there was very apologetic and so nice. He took care of it. I got a sandwich instead, which was delicious.

After how nice he was and how delicious the sandwich was, I decided to make this my go to deli when going to the beach. So I went for a breakfast sandwich. A different man was there. I'm really sorry that you couldn't understand me through my mask. It's frustrating for everyone. I did my best to speak loudly and clearly. But you didn't have to be so rude about it. Only thing worse than the prices is the service. 25 mins to make a sandwich. Two “cashiers” who are never there to actually ring you up, they take the order then hand it off to someone else then disappear. Two people in the back on the griddle even though no one had ordered anything from the griddle literally just standing there doing nothing while a line was out the door. The food itself is mediocre at best and they have no problem charging you an absurd price because they’re the only deli in town. Don’t try calling and placing your order ahead of time either because they do not answer the phone. Place is horrendous and I’d rather drive the 15 mins to the next closest deli than ever step foot...
