Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Highly disappointed. Ordered through doordash and was completely missing an item (which was my actual meal no less). It wasn't doordashes mistake because it was completely missing from the order ticket affixed to the bag. I called the restaurant to speak with someone and was on the phone with Marisol who claimed to be the manager. She continued to speak over me while I was talking and not very helpful. She asked if I were to come pick it up ... Which tbh is THE OPPOSITE of what I was looking to do since I ordered through Doordash to deliver for me. With no other choice, my bf had to go and pick it up. I told her I would appreciate if they would remake the entire meal since now we had to go back to get a burger that they didn't make leaving everything now ice cold. She refused saying that they are a "small restaurant". I've been in the restaurant business for over 15 years and whenever we messed up a ToGo order, we always offered to remake the whole thing out of courtesy. But hey, I guess that's why the restaurant I'm at has been super successful. My bf arrived and asked for a refund for the burger that was missing. That's the reason for the 1 star. Today, for lunch my coworker and I were heading down Hempstead tpk and decided to try out Wayback Burger. This place delivered us a fantastic product. I went with the cheeesey which is a double cheese burger with upside down bun and i also ordered totchos which is tater tots with pulled pork and other fixings. My friend went with the classic combo. These burgers were absolutely delicious. They were juicy, cheesy, flavorful and were gone in about 1 minute. We were both very satisfied with our burgers. He rated his a 8.1 and I gave mine a 8.5. I would drive 10 minutes out of the way for a burger like this. The totchos were pretty good but I don't know if I would order them again. After the burgers i was still craving something so i ordered a vanilla shake. It was the perfect way to finish off a burger that juicy. I would be remiss if i didn't mention the cashier seemed cool and was very nice to both of us. That guy belongs in the service industry because he was certainly a people's person. All in all I'm giving that experience 5 stars and would certainly recommend this place to a friend or feed it to my family... I’ve been a loyal customer here since the day they opened. Up until the end of 2024, I rarely had a complaint. Unfortunately, each visit since then has gotten progressively worse — and after today, I don’t plan on coming back.

I ordered two identical burgers. Both were missing three key ingredients and looked like they were thrown together without any care. On top of that, they were noticeably lacking in flavor — far below the quality I was used to from this place.

My drive home is just 3 minutes, so I wasn’t expecting the food to be piping hot — but I also wasn’t expecting it to be room temperature or colder. The onion rings and fries were both cold, flavorless, and stale. The fries were especially bad — soggy and borderline inedible.

They also forgot all dipping sauces or condiments. For a full meal, I was given two ketchup packets — that’s it.

I tried calling to speak with someone before writing this review, but no one answered. Today was a real letdown. I truly hope they turn things around, but I can no longer recommend this place based on how far the...
