Drift Inn — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Had to write about my most recent experience here. The food was incredible as always and the chef on the line is incredible. But tonight the service was atrocious.

My friend and I waited 10 minutes before anyone came over to us. My friend and i both asked for a Guiness and a shot. I also asked for a water. The bartender brought everything, but one Guinness. When i asked about it he said i thought you asked for a water and i said i did. He was visually annoyed.

The girl behind the bar came over and we ordered our food. We asked for hot sauce on the side with the wings. All the food came out reasonably quick. The hot sauce didn't come out. We asked politely for the hot sauce again. The guy asked if tobacco was okay and my friend said yes. We never got it. The girl behind the bar came over after a while and asked how things were. We asked for the hot sauce a third time. Never got it.

The girl also messed up our order with the fries after asking me if i wanted one side or two since i ordered the truffle fries. I said one, but because she couldn't hear me over the music she brought out both and was annoyed when i brought it up. After we finished eating we sat and waited another 10 minutes for the check until i asked for it. The bartender wasn't that busy, but i think they were ignoring us.

Only decent bar on Montauk Highway in that part of Suffolk. Once you’re east of Bay Shore it’s honestly slim pickings. The Drift is nice in it’s own right however because it has a nice local atmosphere with casual ambience while maintaining decent refinement. Got the burger and they burned the Martin's potato roll. Not good. Who would ruin a Martin's potato roll?? Burnt wife's shrimp quesedilla. What's up with the grill? Fries were good.
