JACKSON HALL AB&G, E. ISLIP, EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS!
I've been reading good things about Jackson Hall in E. Islip, for awhile now. It's about a 35 minute ride from our home. My Honey and I are up in age, and I have medical issues I have to deal with. Today I was feeling good, the weather was good, so I asked my Honey if she'd like to take a ride and have a light lunch, she answered back, sounds GOOD!
We arrived at Jackson Hall American Bar & Grille a little after 2 pm. This is a big restaurant with many tables, there were only 3-4 tables being used when we got there, GREAT just the way we like it, NO CROWDS and quiet!
Jackson Hall has a lot to choose from on their menu. I took my Honey here because I know she likes lobster, and I've heard their lobster bisque is out of this world. Our waitresses name was Brook, when she came to our table to give us the menus and ask if we wanted anything to drink, I said to her, please don't bring out all the food we order at one time, AS SOME RESTAURANTS WILL DO, it will get cold sitting on the table. She said that's not a problem.
First I ordered two appetizers, their Baked Whole Little Neck Clams(6) 13.95, and their Steamed Mussels, Scampi Style, $18.95. We in our lifetime have traveled quite a bit and have eaten in many, many, restaurants. I have to honestly say, these Baked Clams and Mussels are at the top of our list now, for a return visit just for these two items alone.
The Baked Clams were piping hot, the breadcrumbs were perfectly seasoned, crispy yet moist and the whole clams was so tender and delicious. The Mussels were WOW! simply put, just delicious and fresh. These mussels could not be better in taste, also piping hot. They came with toasted bread to dunk in their broth, just out of this world. I have to say this, my Honey for the first time ever, asked Brook to bring her a container so she could take the leftover broth home to pour over linguini she will make at home. She has never asked any restaurant to take home the mussel broth. Ever, that's how good it was.
Next I ordered for my Honey their Famous Lobster Bisque, $13.95, and I ordered their French Onion Soup, $8.95. The soups did not come out until we were all done with our appetizers, the way it should be.
When the the soup came out, they too were piping hot, you will see by the pictures, they will tell it all, unbelievably delicious. Chunks of lobster in the bisque, not tiny pieces almost unseen to the naked eye, the way some fine restaurants serve their lobster bisque. The French Onion soup, had loads of fried onions on top, delicious onions and bread in the soup and the cheese on top was so, so tender, not chewy at all, it just melted in your mouth, excellent and another good reason to come back!
When we finished our soup, Brook had our main entrees brought out. I ordered their Marinated Skirt Steak plate with mashed potatoes, and fried onions, $37.95, the skirt steak was folded over it was so huge! It was also tasty and very tender, the mashed potatoes tasted home made, just excellent! My Honey ordered their Connecticut Lobster Roll, with french fries and coleslaw, the lobster roll had loads of warm lobster meat and drawn butter on it, $32.95, she just loved it too. As you can see by the pictures Jackson Hall give you a plate full to eat, they are not stingy with their portions. We both could not finish our entrees, we took what was left home.
Before we left, I left a little space for maybe some dessert? I ordered their Tartufo with two spoons, $11. just a perfect ending!
Before we left, the Chef and General Manager Michael Landesberg, came out to our table to introduce himself and to see if we were satisfied with our meals. We both told Michael we were more than satisfied. The service we received from Brook and the servers was excellent, the food was excellent, their prices charged were more then fair, ALL these reasons are reasons to return, or to try Jackson Hall for the first time as we just did today.
