Decided to stop for lunch as we were driving past. Food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced. Wait staff was friendly and proficient, and while the decor wasn't polished, it was a fun little local diner with lots of character and history. Lots of menu options for all ages and wonderful french fries. I loved the fish and chips which were crispy cod strips that camw out nice and hot with a crunchy outside and a moist, tender fish inside. Love love love! Did not try the ice cream for which they were founded, but it looked heavenly and lots of people were coming and going to get some!

I'm not sure what happened to this place based on past reviews, but this place was god awful. The food was stale and disgusting. We went to the restaurant part of the place, but maybe the ice cream is a lot better. Just look at that meat. It looks like it was yesterdays leftovers thrown into a blender.

Honestly a great little place kinda in the middle of nowhere. The food was standard fare for a diner, but the Reuben sandwich was absolutely delicious. The staff was all friendly and fast... But this sandwich was killer. If you're in Speculator, stop in and grab a Reuben for sure.

Unattractive place, old interior, dirty bathroom (that's minus one star). Ate their twice for lunch. First day I had the fish and chips, and yes the fish came out hot and crispy, but WAY over salted, that's not how you make fish taste good by adding lots of salt. Second day I had a hot dog with chili on top with a side of macaroni salad (paid $3 for the side). I asked for some diced onion on top of the chili dog and bring mustard, so I could have a Coney dog. Instead the onions were under the chili and she forgot to bring the mustard (she went back for it). Chili was mostly big chunks of ground beef in a chili sauce. And the hot dog was supposed to come with chips which it did not (I didn't bother to remind them). The macaroni salad was unimaginative and boring, just elbow macaroni with some chopped celery and mayo. So sorry to say, that's another minus one star for the poor food and...

The ice cream is okay, but while I was there the owner was out talking to customers. He was bragging about his money, talking about how much he hates his competition in town, and gleefully regaling the audience with how he was thinking about ‘reducing the price of my ice cream to $1 so I could run the Creamery (the other Ice Cream place in town) out of business and then I could jack up the prices’ I’m not keen on giving my business to...
