The PERKS of Speculator — Restaurant in Town of Lake Pleasant

I really wanted to love this new restaurant, but unfortunately they still have a LOT of kinks to iron out…

The good: the drinks! Excellent specialty coffee and tea! Hot and fresh! The pastries look great, too!

The bad: The Food… it took over 30 minutes for our food to be ready, we picked it up as soon as it was placed on the counter, but it was cold… dry cold pancakes, cold bagel sandwich- the eggs and sausage were hot, but everything else was room temperature. The cheese on the bagel sandwich didn’t even melt, since the other ingredients were cold. Perhaps they keep plates cold, so it instantly supercools food? Otherwise they need to work on their timing. Maybe we’ll try again next summer, but we won’t be back this year.

First want to reply to Stephen… As someone who’s lived here forever and is thrilled to finally have this awesome coffee spot in town, I’ve gotta say… this review feels a little dramatic for a shop that’s only been open three days. 😅

The almond milk switch is $0.75 for a small — not sure how you managed to get charged $3 unless you ordered a latte, a smoothie, and asked them to bless it with moon dust. Also, calling the coffee “mid” in a brand new, locally-owned shop that’s literally just finding its rhythm? Come on. Be better.

Small towns need folks to lift each other up, not nitpick prices they didn’t actually pay. Maybe try giving them a week before writing them off. The rest of us will keep enjoying the good vibes and...

Awesome spot in Speculator that we will make sure to stop in again next time. This was our first time in and were looking for espresso drinks - our iced and hot lattes were delicious. Weren’t planning on food but saw all of the great options and changed our minds - the chicken salad sandwich with bacon and dilly ranch was SOOO good. Still thinking about it. Roast beef with caramelized onions was also great. Yes there was a wait for food, but it was fresh and delicious and staff are very friendly and clearly working hard while the line was out the door. They also had a digital register where you could place your own order to speed things up. The few one star reviews on here are wack. Plenty of parking and indoor and...
