Not bad seeing that it has only been open for a few days.
The space is lovely. Bright and inviting with a lot of seating and great natural light. I really liked the minimal but comfy decor and color scheme. It is a good place to hang out and have a hot drink and a snack with friends. There is a large deck which will be great for sitting outdoors when it warms up.
We were disappointed with the food, which isn't made on site. The menu could do with a few more basic offerings for drinks. The soup was overly seasoned. The sandwich could have done with more greens. The soup was served nearly cold and microwaved in its plastic tub (I was disappointed with that. No thanks to microplastics. If having soup on site, it should be served in a bowl) and I had to ask for it to be reheated.
I appreciated the eco-friendly cups and sandwich box. It would be good if the plasticware was also compostable. As The Boro is brand new, it's understandable that there will be a few teething problems. Overall, the atmosphere means that I...
Read moreI’ve been excited to try The Boro. I live nearby and love coffee, enjoy reading in local cafes and spending time in friendly “third places.”
My coffee drink was “just ok.” My quiche was not heated properly. Some of the staff was friendly and others were cold & unhelpful. I was overcharged for a bottle of water. When I mentioned it was a small size — not a large for double the price — the person became arrogant and defensive. No apology and she actually gave me a rude look.
The interior is very nicely done but the owner needs to work on creating a more service-oriented culture among the staff. My experience has been much better at the other speciality coffee shops and cafes in the area. I have no issue paying top dollar but expect great food, coffee and service. That wasn’t my experience so I won’t be...
Read moreI went in today to try this place. The inside is was busy with people talking or at their computers. It looked very comfortable and inviting. I ordered an Iced Latte and the Eggplant Panini. The women there are very friendly and helpful showing me where to grab a sandwich and what others were available. While I waited for the sandwich to be pressed in the panini, I sipped on my Iced Latte which was not only delicious but smelled wonderful. Thr eggplant panini was delicious with just the right amount of ingredients on it. The cheese was nicely melted and the pesto didn't overtake the flavors of the sandwich. I cant wait to go back and try a grilled cheese. Best...
