Moose & Maple — Restaurant in Town of Lyons

We were looking for a good place to have barbecue since we weren't from the area and this is where Google brought us! We didn't realize that when we got there that it was actually inside of a water park hotel. We had a nice view of the waterpark at the table we were sitting at. The menu was a little bit Limited so it was hard to decide what to get. We've seen that they had burnt ends and that's not something that we usually see on a menu so we were looking forward to trying those out, they were a little bit fatty but they tasted great the barbecue sauce was fantastic! We also tried the cheese curds were alright but the dipping sauce wasn't that great. After receiving our check we waited about 10 minutes for the waitress to come back and take our payment but she never did so we ended up giving it to another waitress so that we could leave. It was an okay experience and I really did like the barbecue sauce but we're not from the area so I doubt that we will...

So, I know bbq very well, and this is barely "decent" unless you have several cocktails first. First the brisket is flavorless and mine wasnt cut the right direction(against the grain) so it was pretty tough, it barely had smoke flavor and no ring. Second the link I doubt made in house and tastes like it's a sysco hot link and still not spicy, mine was cold. The ribs are edible, it was all I finished. I feel like most of the meats are precooked and smoke finished because you can tell if its freshly made. I shouldent go to a bbq place to find that chilis has better brisket and that's sad. If you guys ever need a real chef here hmu. My 12yo said the smokehouse burger was decent though. My one huge detractor was seeing the servers and hostesses with cellphones, please put those away. If I could leave this place a zero I would. Seriously we had 5 of us 3 kids 2 adults. We first waited 45 min to be seated, then ordered our food and 1 appetizer. A table of 12 came in shortly after us. So after waiting another 30 min this table got all there food and drinks way before we did. I normally don’t leave reviews but honestly this place has terrible customer service and there food I wouldn’t even feed to my dog. After still waiting I asked another waitress about our appetizers she went to check and shortly after I complained they came out cold. There brisket was over cooked, my wife got a steak burger asked for medium it came out well done and burnt. I think the hour, we were there 45min of which we were still waiting for our food our waitress checked on us once. I would recommend you to go off the resort to eat...
