We almost didn't stop here because the outside looked a little tired and run down but the high star reviews on Google convinced us and we decided to try it. So glad we did! In fact we went back the next day because we enjoyed it so much. Don't judge this book by its cover! My husband's steak was amazing! The sear was perfect and the meat was juicy and flavorful without being over seasoned. The burger was great, the chicken continental was great (mashed potatoes and gravy could use some more seasoning) the house fries were good, tasted like Dutch oven potatoes, salad was good although I'd prefer the veggies to be cut smaller. The Italian wedding soup was AMAZING the first night, the second night we came just before closing so there weren't many meatballs left in the soup and it was too salty for my taste but my husband still really enjoyed it. They make almost everything in the restaurant homemade and the soups are made fresh daily and tossed by the end of the night, not saved and reheated (we know this because the waitress offered my husband a free cup because they were about to dump it anyway). The only thing I'm aware of that's not made in house at the desserts and I will say these were lacking in quality. I ordered the chocolate cake which was dusted with powdered sugar, it looked fantastic but when I tried it I could taste a pepper flavor. I thought it was odd and figured maybe somehow a sprinkle of pepper got on that particular bite but I kept noticing it and then my husband pointed out that it was the powdered sugar that tasted that way. He had the same powdered sugar on his banana cream pie and we tasted it plain. It was definitely that. So that kind of ruined dessert for me. The service both nights was fantastic and friendly. The inside atmosphere was cozy, the price was right. We'd definitely recommend this place, but if I had a word of advice or feedback for the establishment it would be to make the desserts in house to match the quality of the rest of the food :)

This has hands down been the best place we have eaten during our visit to New York. Even our children remarked how much they liked it. For those who enjoy breakfast for dinner, there are a number of good options, although they don't serve the entire breakfast menu for dinner. The lasagna and corned beef hash were absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were great and the prices are very reasonable. Our server was very nice and we received our food quickly. I highly recommend this diner.

I was passing through for work and decided to stop for a quick bite, first time here and I was seated immediately, huge selection on both the breakfast and lunch menu. Pam was my waitress and was excellent! Coffee was hot and delicious, food was cooked perfectly, arrived at the table hot and service was astonishing! Prices are extremely fair, I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area!

My husband and I went last Saturday about 11am, we stopped for breakfast. The waitress was kind of rude when she took the order. Cut us off. We got our food. On my toast I found a eyebrow sticking out. I understand this happens. I put it aside so when she came back to check on us I could get another order. She never came back. There were only 9 people in the restaurant. The help was at the counter eating and yacking. I could see them. After 25 minutes I went to her. I showed her and she said What. I explained since she was not going to come to me I was coming to her. I left it with her. She did come to table and said it was not their fault it was baked into the bread. I said either way its there. How she deduced this I do not know. I doubt it though. Was never offered a replacement. She never came back with the check. She handed it to the other waitress in front of me and said give it to her. Which she never did. She did not understand her apparently. I went to the counter, we were ready to go. Very poor customer service on her part. If she simply did her job and came back to the table to check on the food, as most restaurant do, I think it may have gone better. Just replace it. Do not get defensive and then refuse to give the check. I do not think she liked my tone but do your job and check on the customers do not stand up there and eat and talk. We will not be visiting again soon.

Update, went back 05/31 for breakfast. Just myself. Got seated right away she came back quickly and took order. No issues with food. They still do not come back and check on tables like any other restaurant does. But all in all a much better experience.

Will not go back again. Other nearby places are simply better for food...

This was our family's first dinner experience at this establishment. It was an over 90 degree day, and we were looking for a place with AC. They were so welcoming and seated us right away in a section that was not hot at all. We felt the breeze from the overhead fan and the air conditioning. Our server was pleasant, and our meals were delicious. One of the cooks even offered to get extra gravy for our daughter when he saw our waitress was spread thin working many other tables. That was so very kind of him. It is rare that our family of four does not leave with leftovers. We all finished our meals and we would love to come back again! It was a great experience, and we would highly recommend you...
