The absolute star of this restaurant's menu is the bang bang shrimp appetizer. As shown in the photo, you get a generous portion (note: the bowl is filled level to its rim with lettuce on which the shrimp are mounded). The fried shrimp are surrounded by a crispy coating and smothered in a truly delicious sauce that has medium heat, a creamy texture, and assertive flavors from Asian spices. For a main, I had a 7-oz sirloin steak with two sides, fries and, for an upcharge, asparagus. For a seafood restaurant, they do a very good job with steaks. Our only disappointment was with the Kung Pao brussel sprouts which were greasy. UPDATE-1: We returned to order two bang bang shrimp appetizers. Again, delicious! I had a Caesar salad as a second course. The lettuce was not very crisp and the dressing bland. My wife had better luck with a cheeseburger on a brioche roll. UPDATE-2: Returned for a special prix fixe dinner for two which turned out to be an incredible bargain for the quantity and quality of food provided. We started with a mixed salad. This was followed by two entrees. We both chose the chimichurri filet with two sides. I had french fries and broccoli. They were both very good and the steak was exceptional and well complimented by the sauce. The dinner included one dessert to share. We ordered the brownies with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce, a delicious way to end the meal. The service was excellent and the ambience was very good. This has become one of our favorite restaurants. UPDATE-3: Had the bang bang shrimp tacos. The French fries were just made, hot and crisp. UPDATE-4: The bang bang shrimp were excellent as always. For an entree, we chose a skewer of four scallops and five shrimp with sides of french fries and broccoli to share. The shrimp were slightly overcooked and rubbery, but they tasted great dipped in the lemon butter caper sauce provided. The scallops were excellent. UPDATE-5: My wife loved her pan-seared scallops with spicy Mexican street corn. However, the restaurant missed the mark with my dish. The steak, ordered medium, was overcooked, dry, and lacked taste. The shrimp were very overcooked and rubbery. And, the oily chimichirri sauce was disappointing as I had enjoyed it at this restaurant a month earlier. So, after eating here a number of times, my observation would be that they are not always consistent. UPDATE-6: I was interested in trying a new dish, so I ordered the restaurant's signature pasta dish with shrimp. It included linguine with slivered red bell pepper, quartered artichoke hearts in a creole flavored cream sauce. Unfortunately, the dish was not appealing. The sauce was gummy and tasted like cheese whiz with little evidence of creole seasoning. I picked out the shrimp, peppers and artichokes and left 80% of the dish on my plate. We like this restaurant very much when they're on their best game, but the food seems to be inconsistent, perhaps due to the number of chefs that run the kitchen. Reluctantly, I'm reducing my rating from 5 stars to 4. UPDATE-7: Did not care for the side of risotto but enjoyed the coleslaw that came with our scallops and shrimp skewers. UPDATE-8: The restaurant is current running a special lobster menu. We chose to share appetizers of bang bang shrimp and lobster bisque, followed by filet mignon with a lobster thermador sauce. The steak was excellent. Juicy and we'll seasoned. However the thermador was forgettable. We requested coleslaw be substituted for the risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it. UPDATE-9: Ordered four dishes only available during happy hour. The bang bang Chicken was good but we prefer the dish with shrimp. The fried cauliflower was excellent and came with a killer sauce. The shrimp on toast were fine but paled a bit in comparison to the sauces on the chicken and cauliflower. Finally, the cheeseburger sliders on a soft bun with a pickle and special sauce were a treat. The tomato bisque is excellent. UPDATE-10: The butterfish was oily and...
Read moreThis review is by no means an indictment of the manager or staff. All the folks that worked there today (6-17-25) were pleasant and professional. I have zero complaints on the service. It was pleasant. I do however have an issue with the community seating. I was taken here for a father's day dinner and we had the bourbon pairing dinner. I am not a social person whatsoever so imagine my surprise that we were told we will be joining another couple for this dinner. The couple, ( Cam and Sarah) were very nice and were just as taken aback as we were for they were trying to celebrate their three year anniversary. I am sure it wasn't supposed to involve me sitting at their table. I checked the bookings on this and it doesn't say anywhere that you will be sharing a table. I would 100 percent not have done this. The reason for this bad review is the bold imposition that was forced on me. As a restaurant manager myself it is important to provide a great experience for our guests. However when you impose your guests on one another now it forces them to have to try to be social, try not to be rude and a myriad of other thoughts that you shouldn't be worrying about while trying to go to dinner. When all you want to do is relax and enjoy your food and drink. I felt like I couldn't speak openly with who I went to dinner with I couldn't be myself and in the end I couldn't enjoy myself. It was very awkward. I basically just sat there waiting for the experience to be over. This should be sold by table not by chair. Pretty pricey (Around 170 for two people with tax and tip) for having to share a table...
Read moreWhile I have had positive experiences with Bonefish Grill in the past, this has not been the case with the Fayetteville, NY Towne Center location. Two weeks ago, we ordered two fish and chips, with two separate sides of cole slaw as a take out order. I failed to fully inspect the order I received, expecting the rather simple order to be correct, but upon getting home, I found both orders were missing the french fries. I called them, and was told "we don't give you fries if they come with cole slaw." I explained that I had in fact ordered two side orders of the cole slaw, and at no time did I say I wanted that instead of fries. I drove back there, and was given a large protion of fries, and a gift card. Great. Thank you for that! We decided to use that generous gift card this evening on another take out order of two fish and chips, and one side of cole slaw. This time, I looked at everything in the bag I was given. There was no malt vinegar, which is supposed to come with the fish and chips, and the picture attached shows the amount of fries in one take out box, with the other having exactly three fries more. I went back into the restaurant, showed the hostess the orders, and asked for the malt vinegar. The other picture shows the amount of vinegar I then recieved. C'mon folks...I know restaurants are trying to wring every last penny of profit from every customer, but these examples of shrinkflation are truly ridiculous! After these back to back experiences, I don't think we will be returning to Bonefish Grill for a possible...
