Around The Corner Pub — Restaurant in Town of Mercer

We are from Janesville and own a cabin on Pike Lake. We decided to take a nice fall afternoon drive to Mercer about 30 minutes away. I had seen in “Up North Action” magazine that there was an ATV/UTV Pumpkin Run going on in Mercer, so we went to see what that was about, and we figured we would stop for lunch somewhere in Mercer. Well, needless to say, the city was jam packed. I googled bars/restaurants in Mercer and it gave me a lot of choices. I am sure glad we chose to go to Around The Corner Pub. Sure it was busy as we expected, but we were seated right away (there was only 2 of us) and promptly waited on. We ordered food from a very friendly waitress and the food arrived in a fair amount of time and was absolutely delicious. Larger groups began to arrive, so I guess we had gotten there at a good time. The food was mostly normal pub food. The kids had chicken tenders which were real pieces of chicken and mini mozzarella sticks. Plenty of food for them. My fussy husband had a turkey bacon club. It was huge. He said it was excellent and could only eat half. It was Friday so I went for the fish fry. They have an all you can eat version but I chose the 2 piece dinner and it was plenty. It came with a choice of soups o.o salads. I had to try the cheesy cauliflower soup which was yummy. The choice of potato was baked, fries or tator tots. The fries are thin and crispy. The cod pieces were cooked perfectly with a thin batter but were small. Waited a long time for service. Way to many bitters in the old fashioned. Got the dressing for side salad & asked for cheese & got no cheese. Sat there with empty glasses. Probably would of spent more if we could get another cocktail. Asked to watch the race & got an attitude. Got our dinners. Both pizzas were cold & had to ask them to heat them up. We have been there many times and have never had it this bad. I use to run a restaurant a d understand being short staffed, but then minimize the menu so ypur staff can keep up...
