Tonight this restaurant officially lost me as a customer. It’s unfortunate, because I truly prefer their food over that of other restaurants in the area. They also have numerous vegetarian and vegan options that are really good. I won’t give them a 1 star rating just because I’m angry, that would be unfair, and I won’t stoop so low as to treat them the way they treated me. This evening my boyfriend placed an order by phone. I went to pick it up on my way home from work. I get home and find that the egg foo young combo is missing the egg roll and sauce. Everything else in our order was perfect. I called the restaurant to let them know about the error, and to make them aware I would go back to get these things. I live 6 minutes away, it’s not a big deal and if you’ve ever tried to eat egg foo young without the sauce, you know it’s quite plain. I didn’t get far on the phone, the very nice girl told me she had to ask her boss, she explained she is young and needed permission to correct mistakes. I understood and told her I’d just head over. I get there and explain to the woman behind the counter what I had told the girl on the phone, that we were missing these 2 items. She starts talking to the woman who packed our order. This woman swore that she put the sauce with our order. I said it was not there. They went to the kitchen, grabbed the egg foo young sauce and held it up and asked me if I was sure, and said this is what it looked like. This is what upset me. They continued to grill me over whether or not the sauce and egg roll were there, they repeated that it should be there. Eventually they handed me the two items and I left, making sure to tell them they lost my business. No apology, and they were smiling and laughing as I walked out the door. I called the restaurant again when I got home and asked when the owner would be in. I felt terrible that this was how I had left off with a family owned business, I hoped to resolve things. I make a point of working for family owned businesses myself, and it takes a toll when people leave as unhappy as I did. I was then informed over the phone that the woman I spoke to at the restaurant was the owner. If this is how the owner of this establishment does business, I no longer feel bad about this review. Their food is great, but their customer service tonight was disgraceful. We ordered $100.00 worth of food to be treated like criminals over egg foo young sauce and an egg roll....
Read moreMy girlfriend and I just ate dinner there tonight. She loves the place and we have gone there for years. I heard it changed hands no too long ago, but since then I was told most of the same folks are there and the food is still good. I can't agree. I had the chicken with broccoli and she had boneless ribs, both were combination dinners which come with your choice of rice and soup along with an egg roll and ice cream for desert. We ordered hot tea while we waited and found the tea to be nearly flavorless. I would describe it as brown water.
We both chose won ton soup and fried rice. The soup tasted like dirty dishwater and the meat inside the won tons had an odd consistency. I tried not to think about it as I ate. When the entree arrived, we both found the fried rice to have an extreme lack of flavor, It reminded me of the dish water soup. My chicken was rubbery. The sauce was okay but lacked flavor. The broccoli was decent. I decided to eat the egg roll instead of the rubbery chicken, but found it also very bland. Inside I saw cabbage and evidence of nothing else. My girlfriend said the rib meat was good, but that was all. I let them take mine, she asked that the meat be packed for take home.
We both looked forward to the desert since they have pistachio ice cream, which is a favorite for us. Again, we were very disappointed. The ice cream was definitely not the same brand. It was gummy and icy. It tasted like it had been in the freezer for months. Anyone that can screw up a cup of ice cream deserves special credit, and for us that means never going there again. We are both very sorry that an establishment so much a part of the community has...
Read moreI've been going to Daxxon since 1989...always consistent great quality food and attentive service. The owners were always there and attended to small details; they made customers feel very welcome. Tonight the experience was far less. I hear there are new owners, they are not living up to the high bar set by the former owners.
The food was okay, just okay...(fried noodles very stale) but the service was comical!. The two waiters had no idea what they were doing, they also both had zero ability to complete tasks. I watched as they would head to get something, stop along the way clean a table, get something else, talk to each other, then get the item they went for. Our soups never arrived, when the meal came we asked for the soups; from the temp of the soups they had been ready, just not delivered.
I saw other customers who like us had some of their order wrong and had to send it back, and like us shake their head in disbelief...it was that funny/sad. A large problem was the two waiters seemed to not understand English, I understand it is a Chinese restaurant, but the ability to receive and understand orders is pretty important...I believe that was the reason for the wrong items on our order and the other tables.
Also ... They should take down the old photos above the register of Miss Makita 1995 with the old owners...don't try to fool us into believing the same competent steady hand runs the restaurant as always did. Like the former owners, the new owners should do some work, earn their own reputation instead of trying to live off the old one as they deflate it.
I gave two stars as the food was...
